2. I will give him the benefit of the doubt...this one time.
Perhaps he's calling the presser in order to qualify his "yes" vote.

I hope so, at least.

34. I think you have a point.
I had not thought of that before now. Really -- I haven't.

As an aside, isn't he the Chairman of the 'Domestic Policy Subcommittee Oversight and Government Reform Committee'? Maybe he's using that position as a reason?

Maybe I am missing something here, but Kucinich is no Pelosi.

I apologize Congressmen. It seems you do have principals, and you are showing them by voting for the most progressive bill since Medicare and Medicaid.

7. He will vote for reconciliation. No one is voting for the Senate HCR bill. No one!
That's why Pelosi is using the "deemed passed" scheme, because she wouldn't have the votes otherwise!

Edited on Tue Mar-16-10 04:32 PM by IndianaGreen
There is going to be a vote on reconciliation, and once passed, a House rule will determine that the Senate abomination (aka HCR) will have pass as well.

Pelosi doesn't have the votes for the Senate bill, she has to come up with another way of passing it without an up-or-down vote.

which is why she will use the "deemed as passed" to get 2 birds with one shot.

You know what the President said to Dennis? He said, "I want you to vote YES for this bill ..... are you picking up what I'm putting down?" ;)

33. I know that Dennis Kucinich supports equal rights for all
While Obama is against equality for some groups of people.
Dennis stands for equal rights and non discrimination, while Obama favors continued discrimination and inequality. It is that simple.
Some are unhappy that voices that support equality exist. They highlight the brittle and outdated voices of prejudice.
So you need to have a box for 'who do you trust' and 'who has earned that trust'. You need one for 'who has had surrogates slander your people' and 'who has stood always with your people'.

Some of us have memories longer than a news cycle. The enemies of Kucinich are momentary tantrum throwers who did not even think to run a Democratic opponent to him, for all their fury and frothing. The friends of Kucinich are friends he has earned long ago.

51. He's definitely flipping....
.... otherwise, why would he hold a presser?

And the OTHER reason is IF he were going to make a BIG show of voting "no" .... the Dems and WH would be all over this. The President would hold a 10 press conference "to discuss my birth certificate!" or something that would draw attention AWAY from Kucinich.

Instead, we have the opposite. The only sound you'll hear at 10am tomorrow coming from the Democratic party will be Dennis' pledge to vote "yes."

The only way he's doing this with the plans of saying "no" is because he wants something from the WH and is using this threat as leverage.
