I love the smell of desperation in the morning! |
|
The dominoes are falling, the Repubs are hiding in their shells, and the media can only complain that Democrats aren't good at getting out their message.
HCR far from perfect but a watershed moment for progressives, please don't turn victory into defeat.
Repubs will come back out swinging hard, as obnoxious as ever and that only helps. Casual followers of politics notice when assholes like Rush and Beck demean and belittle an eleven your old without a mother.
As for the media, they are technically correct. Democrats don't do a good job getting out their message. People assume that "their" means Democrats, when in fact "their" means media. Blaming Democrats for messaging is intellectually dishonest. When 600 racists idiots get on TV for a convention and get 24 x 7 coverage, and when 300 affiliated idiots throw a tantrum at the Capitol and dominate the coverage that is not the Democrats fault.

1. Yep. The media is the one doing the messaging, |
|
ever since the 1996 Telecommunications Act was signed.
And their message is rarely if ever the same one as that of the Democrats, but for some odd reason always fits in nicely with the Republican message.
It's a shame, really.

4. CNN had three postings from Boehner |

who was complaining about Democrats. NONE ONE REBUTTAL. And if you posted a message on the Ticker against him and the fact that CNN was bias they wouldn't put it up. If you don't believe start posting rebuttals to any republican message see how long before the give you the
YOUR MESSAGE IS BEING REVIEWED.....and it never gets up. But most times the hateful rhetoric from republicans gets printed every time. Only the most cleaned up Democrat posts get up...CNN has been called the sister network of Fox, I think they are trying to take over Fox's place.

Millions more will be covered by HC, should we totally ignore that fact and those people? If this doesn't go through do you really think something better will be put in place in the next 10 years?

It's not progressive AT ALL. Look, do your victory dance, have some fun, pop open some champagne. But you're passing a 15 year old GOP health insurance reform bill. Put down the lipstick, let go of the pig, and fire George Orwell as your press rep.

10. You know I may do a back flip as part of my dance |
|
Because I have been down this path before and was one of those who pissed and moaned about Clinton. You know what, it got a whole lot worse after Clinton left and the Repubs took control. So I made a conscious, educated decision based upon multiple factors.
BTW my company is too small for a press rep so I guess I need to fire myself.

11. I'd be curious how it got worse? |

Tax cuts? Yeah, although I do think people wax a bit nostalgic here. The economy was headed down, and "pay go" was going to get very difficult, politically, to maintain.
Patriot Act? Much of that was proposed (and rejected by congress) by Clinton after Oklahoma City. Gore/Lieberman would probably have done the same.
Afghanistan? I do wonder just how different Gore would have done it.
Iraq? I'll give ya that one. Although probably Gore follows Tommy Franks lead and heads into Somolia and Yemen after Afghanistan. Goodness only knows where we go from there.
Really, what we are seeing now is a continuation of the process that started well before Clinton. It is the huge shift right of the democratic party. It is a presumption that this huge shift somehow doesn't happen if Bush wins. I'm not sure one can make that case, especially with Lieberman in the VP slot.

911 might not have happened - lives in Iraq saved, trillions of dollars saved.
Bush Tax Cuts - wouldn't have happened
Record deficit doesn't exist.
Two Supreme Court Appointments taken away from Repubs.

if Al Gore was president on that day thus negating the NEED for an Afganistan war or an excuse from anyone for an Iraq invasion

Don't even SUGGEST that things would have been the same if Gore had been taken his rightful place in the White House. You make me sick with such drivel.

I'm willing to bet that most of these so-called journalists make more than $500,000 per year, so of course the majority of them don't want any legislation that the Dems are offering.
