2. They'll just list the costs, not the deficit savings.
They'll call it a trillion dollar bill and not mention the fact that next decade it saves more than a trillion dollars.

A source tells Ezra Klein that the CBO score says the health care package will cost $940 billion in the first 10 years. In that first decade, it will reduce the deficit by $130 billion. In the second decade, it will cut it by $1.2 trillion. CNN is reporting the same numbers.

5. CNN's report on the CBO numbers

Source: CBO estimates health care bill at $940 billion

The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office estimates that the Democrats' revised health care bill will cost $940 billion over the next 10 years, a House Democratic source told CNN Thursday.

The bill cuts the deficit by $130 billion during that period of time, according to the source.

6. Leave it to them to list the cost first and not the deficit savings.

8. ANOTHER 1 million people covered!!!!!
:bounce:

And, in a small, but significant improvement over the Senate bill, the combined package will expand health insurance coverage to 32 million Americans, as opposed to the Senate bill's 31 million.

The one big difference? The bill's about $100 billion more expensive than its predecessor. The price tag is fully covered, but will cost $940 billion over a decade. That's likely a reflection of changes to the bill, such as enhanced subsidies and closing the Medicare Part D donut hole. But it does exceed President Obama's arbitrary ceiling of $900 billion, which he issued back in September.

10. That's great new, Clio! That, and Medicare's solvency increased by at least 9 years.
Edited on Thu Mar-18-10 08:40 AM by flpoljunkie
(That's two more years than before!)

According to the source, CBO finds that the bill reduces annual growth in Medicare expenditures by 1.4 percentage points per year, extending Medicare's solvency by at least 9 years.

11. How much will the insured save?
How much will employers save?

How much more money will be available to put into the economy due to those savings?

13. "Congressional Dems were NOT happy about Obama's $900 billion ceiling. ...."
Congressional Dems were NOT happy about Obama's $900 billion ceiling. Threw a wrench into a LOT of plans, particularly in the House.
