Remember " THANK GOD IT PASSED" ? Here we go again...
Neither the Bankster Bailout nor the upcoming Insurance Industry Bailout is a good thing for the citizenry.

1. TARP was an excellent thing for the citizenry
Honestly only real dumbass idiots think otherwise.

Not that I'd say anybody at DU is a dumbass idiot. Why that would be totally against the rules.

9. On second thought... I'll just quote the late, great Dr. Hunter S. Thompson:

You seem to be experienced.

2. The bank bailout prevented a 2nd great depression.
Preventing a 2nd great depression was a good thing for the citizenry.

HCR will lower costs, end abuse of pre-existing conditions, recission etc., and extend health care to 30 million citizens who don't have it now.

That's also good for the citizenry.

14. Some here care more about who gets paid to deliver the service than who actually gets the service.
No point in trying to argue. I for one have no sympathy for the insurance industry, but I'm not so blinded by hatred that I'd allow my disdane for the insurance companies be an obstacle to improving the lack of coverage situation and all the other great things this bill will provide.

4. The current health care delivery system is unsustainable.
We are at a crossroads. Either we finish the work in front of us or we throw in with the Republicans and scrap everything and start from scratch. I do not see any better outcome from starting over. We need to pass this reform measure and start working on phase two.

We had nothing but bad choices in regards to the banks.

But, I swear the ignorance on TARP above should be punishable by some sort of prison sentence

http://www.businessinsider.com/its-official-weve-still-got-tons-more-deleveraging-to-do-2010-3

Let me put this clear, government debt up, consumer debt flat, banker debt down.

You can't get yourself out of a debt crisis by bailing out creditors.

Some people have no common sense. You don't take care of a consumer debt crisis by giving banks more money to loan to over leveraged consumers.

Now go back to your regularly schedule ignorance TARP supporters.

16. Ah, so you got one person to agree with you, and you think that proves you're right.
How bout defending those that disagree with instead of just patting yourself on the back.

15. Funny you say "ignorance on TARP" when you act like the reason was to lend more money.
Edited on Thu Mar-18-10 07:25 PM by Dawgs
"Supporters" of TARP recognize that it stopped another great depression. Do you disagree that all of the large banks would have failed by now if it wasn't for TARP? Are you okay with that?

13. The problem wasn't so much with the initial legislation under Bush
but with the complete failure of the Obama administration to oversee, re-regulate and hold individuals and entities accountable.

That was unanticipated (though in hindsight, not entirely unpredictable).

Certainly was an eyeopener though- once one realizes that Bush I's administration actually performed more responsibly in the S&L debacle's aftermath than this one has.
