Joe Madison: There are currently 40 members UNDECIDED |
|
First time I heard that. That's a high number he said there undecided because they all are facing tough competitive reelection races.

1. Not really. This list shows that to be true. But undecided does not mean a firm no. |

....I tend to see these morons as trying to leverage their positions for earmarks or protections to save their constituents money, while the rest of us pick up the tab, just like the "Nebraska Deal". That's politics in America, and it occurs in both parties. It's a game of cat and mouse. Use whatever you can to leverage your position, and the currency is their votes.
Of course, they will say they are voting for their state/people, and they are, but they put that first over the welfare of the collective. In the end, they hope they can vote for HCR with something to take "home" to their districts. It's ALL about getting re-elected. To them, that's the utmost important issue. Everything else is secondary.

3. We only need 3 more than - and |
|
Markey already switched, I have to believe David Wu will and will contact some Portlanders to see what is up there; and then there's Bobby Rush.
So I think that ought to do it. The article says we can take 37 defectors.

5. They need to think more clearly on polls that suggest that some will be less |
|
likely to vote for people voting for this. They need to notice that the numbers are comparable for a "no" vote. Then they need to remember that they are Democrats - and a good part of the "less willing to vote for someone who votes no" are likely Republicans - who will have tons of reasons to vote against them even if they do vote yes.
