URGENT. For US residents only. This page makes it easy to write to your representatives urging that they not allow Bart Stupid-ak to inject his personal morality into the health insurance bill. Abortion is a legal medical procedure. We have already capitulated enough in the current version of the bill which allows stat...es to decide on a state-by-state basis if public funds will be used for abortion. This is over the top already -- women could die without access to abortions in states that will not cover the cost.

4. I sent a personalized letter... TMI, perhaps, but sometimes reality needs to be illustrated.

"Speaking as a woman who has had medically necessary endometrial ablation and a tubal ligation done, I realize I am still not 100% safe from becoming pregnant. If I were to become pregnant, my life would be in grave danger and I would need to have an abortion. Ablation has taken away my menstrual cycle -- not to mention thinned my uterine lining -- so it would be difficult to tell if I was pregnant or not for a while into it and I would be in danger of my uterus being punctured and of bleeding internally because of it. Not every woman can tell right away whether or not she's pregnant. Anyway, abortion is a sad necessity in this country and is, as of my message, a completely legal medical procedure. No-one should be using it as a bargaining chip, especially when my life literally depends on this, as well as the lives of other women. Please, do the right thing by us."
