Are Democrats Now Releasing Vulnerable Democrats?

Two key House Democrats -- Rep. Jim Matheson (D-UT) and Rep. Zack Space (D-OH) -- announced that they're voting against the health care bill tomorrow.

Greg Sargent: "But in a sign of which way this is headed, the news of their vote -- which had been hotly anticipated only 24 hours ago -- caused barely a ripple. And even Republicans say they're interpreting these No votes as a sign that the Dem leadership has the votes and is now in the process of releasing some Dems and allowing them to vote No."

1. I hope that's the case...
and that they are 10000% sure they have the 216. But wouldn't it better if it passes with as many votes above the bare minimum as possible?

The "vulnerability" is a real factor in upcoming elections. There really won't be time for the dust to settle, so to speak.

3. I called that in a thread last night

the late hour told me that it was a case of them not being needed.

It's not as if anyone learned anything new about the bill since the CBO report came out.

4. I believe this is so
The margin of victory is never a good argument for your opponents, so getting over the threshold with only a few votes to spare is fine.
