Rep. John Larson, chairman of the House Democratic Caucus: "We have 216." Stupak: "Not yet." |

Paraphrasing, but Rep. Larson DID say on CNN this morning that they have the 216 needed, but when Stupak was on MSNBC and asked about that, HE claimed they were two votes short. Hmmm...I wonder if Stupak is saying that to try to be relevant, to try to scare the other Dems. into thinking they'll need to get Obama to write a signing statement assuring him there won't be any federal funding for abortions. Stupak can get lost-WE HAVE THE VOTES! :bounce:

1. There is a deal being worked out regarding an Executive Order saying that no |
|
federal funds will be used from this bill for abortions. I think we will pick up or already have the votes we need. Stupak is being a total ahole.

2. Yeah, I heard Luke Russert report it would be an executive order re-affirming that |
|
the Hyde amendment, the status quo, will be the law in this bill. Nothin' wrong with that IMO.

3. The executive order is a face-saver for Stupak. |
|
It's nothing more than Hyde Amendment stuff - Stupak knows he lost the Rolodex wars with Pelosi, now they're just diving for cover.

4. Exactly. Making clear that the Hyde amendment will be the rule they go by is nowhere NEAR Stupak's |
