Stupak to vote YES per MSNBC Breaking now
Edited on Sun Mar-21-10 11:55 AM by jezebel
Mike Viquera (spelling wrong I'm sure, sorry) says they are in Nancy Pelosi's office now, but she has the 8.

They have a breaking banner saying Bart Stupak to vote "YES"

3. You mean Hell has frozen over?
I wonder if this is true. I wonder if they changed the language of the bill. If so, that means going back to Senate for approval? Which isn't likely to happen?

*dreams - a bubble rises above my head:

Obama crooks his finger toward Stupak, flash to a large clock ticking loudly, tick tock tick tock.
Stupak looks slackjawed and disorientated but he follows Obama direction into the dark room.
Obama grabs him by his collar with both hands and knees him right in the balls. thhumphf!!

sTupak howls and squeals like the rodent he is.

18. Here is the text from Viqueira's report..
MSNBC's Mike Viqueira: "Many of these Democratic leaders are now ensconced in Speaker Pelosi's office. They think they have an agreement with Bart Stupak. Remember, he was here at the White House very late last night trying to work out language for an executive order to clarify and affirm the president's position with regard to abortion language... They think they have the Stupak 8, they think they have the language.ththey are ironing out the language. We expect to hear from Bart Stupak at some point today, either on the floor in the form of a colloquy with other members, a formalized setting in stone of the agreement that they had, but right now we are told that they are looking over the language, making sure everybody reads it the same way, that everybody's happy... If in fact they get these 8... that would definitely, by all accounts, put them over the top."

39. CONFIRMED!!!! -- maybe...
Edited on Sun Mar-21-10 01:11 PM by DCBob
http://www.politico.com/politico44/

BREAKING: House Democrats have picked up critical health reform “yes” votes from a group of anti-abortion lawmakers, including Michigan Rep. Bart Stupak, according to senior Democratic aides. Democrats believe a breakthrough with Stupak's group - based on the promise of an executive order to be issued by President Barack Obama reinforcing a ban on federal funding for abortion - will help give them the 216-vote majority needed to pass reform on Sunday.

========

CNN still says not confirmed.
