Have the liberals in the House read Stupak's executive order?
Edited on Sun Mar-21-10 01:36 PM by LeftyAndProud60
Why would the white house let him write anything?

MSNBC make it sound like he wrote what he wanted Obama to do and white house lawyers approved it.

1. The executive order will do nothing more than "clarify" that the Hyde amendment will be

5. I think it's because of the money.
A public option has to involve federal funds, which must be passed by Congress.

7. That's easy to see
One is for what to commit spending on, the other is for what not to spend money on. The latter is always acceptable, while the former is not.

8. One - a reiteration of a law in effect for 30 years; the other a major
policy item, that needs definition and funding.

9. Actually I think it does two things: it effectively plays both sides
It really does nothing more than uphold the Hyde Amendment

BUT it also gives the President a talking point with pro-life independents.

When the GOP yell that President Obama is pro-abortion, he can simply say that he signed the executive order against.

I think it is smart.

Gives up nothing, gets him some cover.
