So this is about to become Law right? Why is the media so fascinated w/ the senate |
|
They make it seem like what happens in the senate is more important than what's happening today. If Republicans want to block things after this, then it should be pretty clear that they're morons who just want to obstruct. They should just sit there and watch the bill get improved since it's already LAW.

1. The Senate still needs to create and vote on reconciliation |
|
Edited on Sun Mar-21-10 04:28 PM by DJ13
Most House Dems only voted yes today because they expect the Senate Dems to abide by the agreement to ammend various portions of the Senate version via a reconciliation.
If they dont follow through on that promise todays House vote could become a mistake for several left leaning House Dems.

2. They need to keep this a competition. |
|
They know the house bill will pass, so they have to move on to the Senate to keep the winner/loser narrative going.

6. Because the Senate can still fuck this up! |
|
I don't think they will, but the Rethug senators are gonna pull out every trick they can find. Our side is gonna have to be quick on their feet to keep the Rethugs from scuttling this thing.
I'm sure we'll win out in the Senate, but it's still gonna be a lip-biting couple of days.

7. because otherwise, the drama would be over |

the media will keep talking about the Senate until something else comes along. I read a rumor that Natalee Halloway's remains might have been found in Aruba. That'll probably do it.
