They don't want women to have the base health insurance so that they can add the extra dollar for abortion insurance. They would rather women die. Wow.

1. Actually the REAL reason the Pubs are objecting to EVERYTHING
comes from one of their own who spoke today. David Frumm said the Pubs made a strateic decision back before Obama was sworn in that they would unamously vote nay to everything the Dems want. They put all their marbles in one pot and now they have NONE! I was shocked at Frumm to open up so much and say the truth, but I agree with his conclusion. The Pubbies gambled it all on one number & they lost!

2. Yeah but the only thing the repubs are blathering on about is abortion
It's like they think the public is anti choice. I don't get it.

7. If the public were really anti-choice, what is their big deal about abortion then?
Nobody would be getting one anyway.

8. It's just that the anti-abortion folks are so much louder
than the Choice folks, and more vigilant.

4. There's an easy reason for this.
If you notice with Repubs they push on certain things they think they have leverage on or talk about. You'll note...they can't really talk about having health insurance going across state lines. That's already in the bill and they know it and it's been stated before and all news guys know it too. They can't argue about Veteran's losing benefits because that's been objected too since the head of the Veteran's association backed the support for Veteran's in the bill and Slaughter provided proof. They can't say that it's not fiscally responsible--without calling the CBO liars which ends up making them liars and it hurts them politically (even though some of them are pushing that meme). In the end they hang on scraps and hope it works. It's like taking spaghetti and throwing it on a wall and seeing what sticks. So far the abortion sticks because they thought they had Stupak and his dirty dozen in the bag. That seems to have been a very wrong assumption. So now they're left with threatening and trying to get STupak and his dirty dozen or a at least a few of them and of course maintain Cao on their side.

5. They can't use the only real argument which is against insurance company control
Edited on Sun Mar-21-10 05:37 PM by dkf
That one GOPer tried it and he got talked into supporting single payer.

Oh forgot the mandate. I have no idea why they don't bring that up.

9. Throwing it against the wall to see what sticks....
Publicans and cons don't do that with spaghetti, though. They throw their underwear.

And it usually sticks. Especially today.

6. Their *sanctity of life* argument
only refers to those not yet living. The living...women, of course...don't matter. Nor do the lives of their constituents. You know, living breathing, real people walking this earth.

These people are heinous. And hateful. And I hope every last one of them get's their misogynist butts booted out of office in a most humiliating way.
