No death panels, no rationing of care, no govt between you and your doctor |
|
No scary govt takeover, no destroying the economy, no Stalin/Hitler tag team taking everyone off to god knows where. None of the GOP scare tactics will come to pass. None of their worst fears will come true. Some of them may even benefit from this bill.
Just like Saddam's WMD stockpile that did not exist, the GOP and right wing pundits will be shown to have been the false prophets that they have always been. Just like there is not a terrorist hiding under every bed, there is not death panel that will take granny away. The people who feared this bill will find that nothing terrible will come to pass.
The American people will see who has been playing them for fools once again (although how long they will remember will be the question).
Glenn Beck, Michelle Bachman, Rush and Co will have to go find the next boogieman to scare the American people about something that will not happen again.

1. "no govt between you and your doctor" - unless you are a woman of child bearing age |

This bill is a big step forward, but it is only a step. The fight for real health CARE is not over. We have to keep working on it.
But this should give the Democratic candidates a hand in getting into office so maybe we will have more Congress critters with spines to do the hard work that is needed.

4. When I was sick in the hospital about 10 years ago, I had several necessary medical procedures done. |

At least my doctors felt they were necessary for me to live.
After I was finished with all my hospital visits 6 months later, I found out that my health insurance company (which was much better than any of the current ones), was arguing with the hospital and doctor(s) over one of the procedures.
For six months there was a back and forth whether or not they would reimburse the hospital for it. They eventually did. Otherwise, I would have had to pay another $20,000 on top of what I already paid.
Imagine if the private insurance company had wrangled with the hospital before that procedure was done, questioning it's validity. I'm sure today it would have been much worse.
There's the "getting between you and your doctor".
Brought to you courtesy of your 'friendly' (ahem) private health insurance company.
Not the U.S. Government, but private health insurance.
