For those who were worried about the welfare of Rep. Stupak after his actions tonight... |
|
.... dont .... he's at a local bar celebrating with Reps Larson, Grijalva, Boccieri and others.
(not posting the link because it tells which bar he's at)
Enjoy! You all earned it!

1. Okay. Still not sure where I stand on him, but alright - he "redeemed" himself a bit today. nt |

9. Sorry - I Can't Cut Him A Break...... |
|
He complicated the passage of this bill the last time and this time. He made things difficult for the President and Nancy. He was grandstanding and hanging his hate and the fate of this bill on a non-issue that shouldn't have been a consideration in this bill. Just because he finally voted 'yes' on this doesn't give him a pass.

11. Neither can I. If my mother were alive, she would have a few choice words for him |
|
and his antichoice stand. She used to get furious at "these MEN!" who were denying a woman's right to choose...and she was passionate about it until the end of her life at age 94...

5. I really don't begrudge people their feelings on abortion |
|
I mean, I think he's grossly wrong, but you can't argue with a religious conviction. It just doesn't work.
I do kinda with more "pro life" people would be pro-life in all aspects of their politics...death penalty, that kind of thing.

4. They ALL deserve to celebrate. And as pissed as I was at him, he took a lot |
|
of flak and stood firm. This victory belongs to him, too. (My, I seem to be in an awfully magnanimous mood tonight!)

8. I applaud him for what he did tonight. And sure, it doesn't surprise me that he's drinking it up |
|
with his C Street compatriots. He did what needed to be done, and in my view, he's one of the heroes of the night.
The Republicans thought that they could use him as a tool to spread fear and lies about this bill. He set the record straight.
I really don't care about what he believes on a personal level. He is free to believe what he wants, as long as he doesn't force everyone else to go along. And more importantly, as long as he remains focused on the larger, more important issue, and that is that health care reform is PRO-LIFE. Hence, the support from many Catholic and other religious organizations.
Hats off to Stupak!! :toast:
