Why We have no Interest in the Media magnifying the TeaBaggers....
Edited on Mon Mar-22-10 01:58 PM by FrenchieCat
Although the Republicans do.
They want Americans to be afraid, not simply of Barack Obama,
but of how this country is reacting under Barack Obama.

It is their hopes that if they can scare enough of us for long enough,
we may have 2nd thoughts come 2012 in supporting Pres. Obama again,
since they want us to believe that he is the cause of the disunity in this country,
when it really isn't him, but simply a tiny fraction of the American people,
who in 2008 voted for John McCain.

The media is an accomplice, in that they continue talking about these teabaggers,
exaggerating their numbers greatly, and hope that we buy into the fact that this
is a growing violent movement, and that the only way that we might find peace
is to move on and just elect somebody "Normal" instead of this guy who is causing
all of this angs among "the people".

And too, it might work...because as much hate as is being spewed upon Barack Obama,
and as much reporting that goes on about every fucking incident that occurs,
it only magnifies a view that perhaps without Barack Obama as President,
we wouldn't be experiencing such hate.

That's also why the Republicans are acting as a unit, and voting down all Obama initiatives...
so that the media can make congress look disfunctional (although the media won't admit why),
and again, in the back of folks' minds, Barack Obama can again be seen as the reason why this
is so.

Of course, the media could do much to reduce some of the baseless hatred and tensions
instead of feeding them, but they are choosing to exploit those emotions instead.
That's one of the reasons that anything a Republican says against this Administration
seems to be sooo important to the media. That is why, we can see probably as many
if not more Republicans decrying yesterday's big legislation, as opposed to Democrats
praising it. We haven't seen such a small minority being given so much respect and opportunity,
airtime and tips by the media in a long time, if ever.

So next time you are watching the equalizing of Republican importance with Democratic importance on your television, as brought to you by your corporate media, try to wonder why it is the the Media never seems to want to ever say to the Republicans whining......In 2008, there was an election, and you guys lost. Because of that, you are not going to get the laws enacted that you wanted. That's how the system works in this country; the majority wins, even if the minority has rights. The majority gets to pretty set the agenda as they see fit, and in the case of Barack Obama, he has extended his hands to Republicans more so than I have seen done in years by other Presidents.

When Republicans went on TeeVee talking about "Americans don't want this", it was the media's job to remind Republicans that "Americans" voted for Barack Obama and the Democrats in Congress in an overwhelming majority. For the Republicans to cite polls as a larger indicator as to what Americans want and to ignore the results of an actual national election fairly recently, makes them UnAmerican, IMO...because what Americans said in that national election was, we don't want a lot of Republicans representing us, because we don't like their ideas.

So let us be very clear that the media isn't doing it's job, and in fact, is doing the job for the opposition, a minority one at that. They need to stop, because they are putting citizens at risk, and fucking up our nation, which needs healing not provocation. So I'm saying it again; our media is very dangerous, and they need to be made to understand this....even if we have to shame them. They are not an objective passive participant in some of the hatred we are seeing, they are willing instigators; and that has to go.

Basically this is a letter that with some editing I will be sending to just about every newspaper and television station in the country. I don't care if only one person at a newspaper reads it, or just a flunky at a television stations reads it....what I do know is that this must be said, and said, and said.
