The Republican outrage against the new health care bill is going to backfire, and here's why: |
|
Most people are not going to be "negatively impacted" by the new tax. In fact, most of Obama's and the Democratic Parties constituents will have improved their conditions considerably.
Who gets "hurt" the most by the bill? Rich snobs who wouldn't have voted for Obama or the Democrats anyway. Their whining about costs cannot be spun in their favor, because America is getting increasingly tired of the bullshit.
Even if you don't like the mandate, and don't get health coverage, a 2-5% levy (or whatever it is) will go completely and utterly unnoticed. No one will care or even know about it. You file your EZ tax form and it's in the fine print on the other side, you will simply not care.
This is perhaps, while also one of the most historical political moment in our modern history, also the most brillient political strategy I've ever seen.
We will win big in Nov. if the GOPers keep hammering home just how evil and bad the health care bill is. Please let them. Please. Jam it down our throats!

1. As we speak, many people are calculating or having their taxes done. Most are seeing breaks. |
|
Lower taxes.
It's nice timing that they see this in stark contrast to the Fear messaging from the right, especially over the HC bill.

|
and they have a tough road, good portion of the country believe the lies already. And Corporate money poured into campaigns and ads...UNLIMITED. (thanks to the USSC ruling) Not gonna be easy.

The republican lies about WMD in Iraq were beyond the ability of an individual citizen to personally disprove, so people either rejected them (using outside info and common sense) or believed them (using faith and emotion). In this case, the lies are about actual events in each citizen's life. "Your taxes will go up!" "Your granny will be killed!" "Death panels!"
These lies can be easily disproved by each individual citizen. They will see that their taxes actually went down. They will visit granny and she's fine. They will encounter no death panels. The world will not end. And with that, these despicable republican lies are exposed.
This will happen in other areas as well. "He's going to take your guns!" may work for a while, but as time goes on and on, and everyone's guns remain intact, the lie will become obvious. Same with establishing a Communist dictatorship. Same with interning conservatives in concentration camps. All lies, all exposed as such.
After all this happens, how many will vote republican? Not zero, but fewer and fewer, I'd say.

16. Irrational Fear and Anger Are Difficult to Sustain Over The Long Haul |
|
Sooner or later, empirical evidence supersedes them. We were angry at Bush for 8 years, but the evidence justified it. We are now seeing irrational anger and fear, but the evidence won't support it. Thus, the rage will dissipate.

5. teabaggers are doing the work for us |
|
add to that small business tax credits that will occur immediately for this fiscal year....
all kids covered under parents till 26 by september...kicks in at start of school year where families will appreciate not having to pay extra for kids school health insurance.....
can't get dropped by insurance companies by sept..
if unemployment drops below 9 percent and shows a good trend we should survive the midterms intact....
keep hoping these teabaggers get more coverage. their antics are like free ads against republicans.

6. The GOP is in a no win. They fought against HCR, they had HAA (Healthy Americans Act), they could... |
|
...have voted on it in a bipartisan manner and would not have been worse for ware. But now when people complain one need only point to the GOP not budging on the issue.
It was either "no fixing the government" or "nothing."

7. Actually, I think there will be quite a few upper-middle-class conservatives ... |
|
... who will be only too happy to take advantage of the new HCR, when they see the huge savings they'll get by keeping their kids on their family plans until they're 26. This is going to kick in quickly too, so they'll be none too happy about losing this "little" bonus.

Most people won't see any changes to their health insurance AT ALL.
Virtually the only people motivated to hit the ballot box hard this November will be the ones pissed off about the healthcare deal and Obama.
You must live in a hardcore Democratic stronghold. I live in a blue dog's district and most people living here are PISSED. Mostly because they don't have control of the situation and feel helpless being in the minority.

15. most of this bill isn't going to kick in for four years |
|
I don't think that this bill is going to be much of a determining factor in the next election -
it's going to be the economy, like it always is, that effects the 2010 election.
And right now the economy sucks...

are definitely owning themselves, and they're in for more pain because I expect them to attempt to block any reforms or regulations aimed at Wall Street. I'm sure there will be some Democrats that do that too and not to the degree the GOP will.
