Whoa! Obama zings Rep. Altmire upon hearing he would vote against health care reform.
Edited on Tue Mar-23-10 02:43 PM by jefferson_dem

From WaPo's long tick-tock of the health care vote hunt:

On Friday morning, e-mailed . Despite the party on St. Patrick's Day at the White House, a sit-down with Emanuel, a few more phone calls from the president and three from Cabinet-level officials, Altmire planned to announce that he would vote no.

"Don't do it," Emanuel punched back on his BlackBerry. At 4 p.m., Altmire released his statement and at 7:30 Obama called once more.

"I want to give you something to think about before the vote," the president said gently into the phone. "Picture yourself on Monday morning. You wake up and look at the paper. It's the greatest thing Congress has done in 50 years. And you were on the wrong team."

3. How small and shitty do you think Altmire is feeling right about now?
He knows POTUS was correct but didn't have the stones to do the right thing. Shame on him.

5. and not the brains to realize there's no advantage to his vote in the final analysis
I really question their intelligence.

Do they really think they won't be laughed at when they say, "but I didn't vote for it, please don't unelect me, please!"

9. I agree.
Would love to see Denzel Washington play him. I like Will Smith, but not to portray Obama.

4. I called him many times and last call I urged him not to be afraid to vote yes.
I am disappointed that he is so wimpy when it comes to being strong for America. He is also afraid to try any Git-mo detainees in US courts. I don't need leaders who don't have faith in our American courts. They are part of the system, if they have no faith in it then they should not swear to support and defend it. They were voted in to change the fearful closed stagnate corporate absorption that the republicans have worshiped. If they can't work for us then they should be out of office.

Bad choice for Altmire and the other dems and repubs who saw a democratic defeat as more necessary than the lives of US citizens without insurance.

link replay and definetly thought about how humiliated my blue dog Should feel.

The Signing and the speech before were a stunning part of history and Altmire & Arcuri are not apart of it. They might even be history in Congress..who knows since they're being so chicken. How would they help make this Bill Better?
