"Go ahead and file your HCR lawsuit...make my day."

"If you win the case, I go nuclear with a public option. If you try to drag this out until after the mid-term elections, I'll go nuclear with a public option BEFORE the mid-term elections. And if you lose the case, well, you'll end up looking like even BIGGER losers. We, on the other hand, have NOTHING to lose, because no matter what happens, the Dems and I win.

"So? How lucky ARE you feeling, punks?"

1. I so want to get that clip of Cleavon Little ridding into town for the
first time in blazing saddles.

Must resist, must resist...

7. Ummm.. sorry to piss on your parade but why not just give us a public option anyway?
Edited on Tue Mar-23-10 06:16 PM by no limit
Is it because Obama made a deal with the healthcare providers that he wouldn't pass a public option? Or do you have some rosy explaination that I'm missing.

8. If the mandates were to be ruled unconstitutional, any deals wouldn't count for squat
Edited on Tue Mar-23-10 08:24 PM by rocktivity
The health insurance companies would HAVE to drop the Rethugs like a hot potato and kiss Obama's ass up one side and down the other--a rosy scenario, indeed.

12. With 178 republicans and 54 Blue Dogs (a majority) in the House (not to mention other moderate
and conservative Democrats who get nervous when they hear "socialized medicine"), only in my wildest dreams does Obama have the rhetorical and political skills to sway such a conservative body.

My guess is if Obama could "just give us a public option", we would have it or, better yet IMHO, a national health service. Unfortunately, neither is his to give us.

13. They have 50 votes in the senate to do this. And they do in the house
45 senators signed that they would support reconciliation. Out of a pool of 59 they can pick up 5 more. Same thing on the house. They were about 26 votes short on the house side just a week and a half ago for this bill, they got it passed after they put the pressure on.

If there is a will there is a way. They have no will to do this.
