What's so funny about peace, love, understanding and economic stimulus?
SOunds like a lot of medicare recipients will be getting checks for $250. (Closing the doughnut-hole related, I think)

My first reaction was, "Good. That's stimulative."

It helps the economy which is not strong (and will not be strong for some time because housing has not bottomed)

It helps the employment situation.

I do not know the total amount of such rebates but however many dollars are involved they will be roughly as sound a use of government credit, dollar-for-dollar, as most of the stimulus package.

But the whole damn country has gotten so deep into the kool-aid bucket of the deficit cult that a genuine social benefit of the HCR bill cannot be called what it is. It would be political malpractice to note/admit that such a measure is economically stimulative.

It is true, but Republicans would snort laughter and the media would join right in. (I can see Chuck Todd's eyes rolling already.)
