A view of the French opinion re: the signing of the HC law
I try to stay in touch with the thoughts in other countries. But since I only speak French and English, I am limited to reading (on the web) newspaper articles from France, Belgium, and Britain.

Here is an interesting comment from a blogger in the newspaper "Le Monde."

I will post it in French first, then translate it to the best of my ability.

It is a small victory. The fight to come is to convince middle class Americams to stop hating each other and to understand that, with solidarity, THEY are the State. To take in charge the weak, the sick, that is being human. The contrary (not doing it) is monstruous.

1. Great message from our French friend (and I've no doubt a flawless translation!)
"... convince middle class Americans to stop hating each other..."

4. That's a message we need to drive home
All these people who think that the government is somehow separate from them need to realize that we are the government.

6. I wondered about what other countries thought....
.... here we are, this great country, making such a BIG deal over what to them is commonplace.

They were already convinced that Barack Obama is one of the greatest leaders the world has ever known ... we're a bit slow on the uptake.

8. Sadly, this person misses the point
It's not just middle class Americans. The uber-wealthy and the poor who vote against their best interests are also forces of hate.

And there will never be solidarity, because these people hate the weak and the sick. It's monstrous because they are monsters.

14. I think most of the uber-wealthy like Gates et al in fact vote Democratic
and not against their interests.

It is more the first tier wealth with assets less than $ 100 million that shoot themselves by voting Republican.

12. Ah but the contrary is plus necessaire pour l'Etat
Corporate!

For without the divisive middle class hating one another, the Corporate State would be immediately crippled, and over a short time would become so weak that an entirely new form of government would take place. This would be a government of moderates, of politicians who answered to the needs of the people, and not to the greeds (and payoffs) of the Upper One Percent.
