GOP, meet November Loss
Edited on Wed Mar-24-10 05:52 AM by Betty Karlson
http://politicalwire.com/archives/2010/03/23/are_independents_turning_from_republicans.html

Turns out that hysteric obstructionism, (quasi)fascist protesting, and "just say NO" are not getting any results with the independent voters after all.

Could I just say this Health Care vote had/ has the potential to become OUR "morning in America"? And look at the bright weather and the gentle sun shining on the Democratic Party.

Better yet: if the GOP, come November, runs a platform of "repeal the bill", most voters (to the tune of 60 % or so) will blame them for not focussing on other pressing matters which have not as yet been addressed.

2. Nothing left but fear
That is all they have. All they ever had.

4. About one hundred and forty years ago,
Perhaps they had more to offer. But now, they have a lot to fear, if fear is all they have. Someone send them the "collected Wisdom of FDR".

3. as someone here wrote yesterday
This kills Mitt Romney's career. Back when he was more moderate, he implemented a similar health care system in Mass. I don't know how he can get the nomination now if what he approved is now suddenly "socialism."

5. Uh....have you met Republicans?
Have you met the media?

Since when do they have any need for consistency or aversion to complete and utter hypocrisy, and since when doe either their base of voters or enablers in the media call them on it?

We can all thump our chests at the bill being passed but the fact that they managed to flip around the debate and obscure the goals so effectively, and to get even 40% of people out there to side with INSURANCE COMPANIES over what is good for the average person, and have it be portrayed as populism is some next level, through the looking glass bullshit and they've been getting away with it for decades now.

So no, it didn't kill anyone's career.

where his support for similar legislation will be a big albatross his opponents will sling around his neck.

Oops, I meant, he is "pro life". Of course he cannot become a Christian, he is a devout Mormon.

7. I think the GOP death dance is a little premature. He who laughs last, laughs best.
I'd rather have the last laugh next November rather than having to eat crow for the March bragging.

9. The only problem we have is starting too late..
telling people how their policies are affecting their lives plus the hows and whys on getting their asses out of office..

10. You start the boogie woogie on the GOP grave when it's dead not before.
Doing it prematurely is just asking for trouble.

11. No,this is why ..
.their lies get so far. They keep pounding them and saying them over and over and the Dems sit their and wait thinking that everyone in the country is aware of the nonsense. Yes, let them go so far but not too.

Just the fact that everyone wanted to pretend that their was no racism in the teabagging party has let them go to far and now it has taken hold and this summer I believe their will be more to come and it don't look good.

They think they are the sleeping giant but they don't know what and who they are messing with. I know plenty of people who want to kick their asses now..

12. Yes, you don't brag and strut about the death of the GOP before it is really dead.
That is stupid. It's like a hunter bragging about bringing down a big buck before he has even set foot in the woods. You need to do the work first to accomplish the goal, not bragging about something being done that is not reality.

Until the GOP is brought down and rejected by America to the extent that they are less of a power than they even are now, until then let's lay off the bragging about how it is dead until we do the work to accomplish that. Talk is cheap.

14. Beat me to it. Controlling the M$M by dismatling post-WWII protections against totalitarian press
has always been a goal of the Bushies.

Now it's here. Corporate "soft-control" is proving more successful at shaping the National Mind than anything Hitler could have dreamed of.

expected.

maybe 25-30 seats in the House, 5 seats in the Senate. Not a game-changer.

What bullshit...they are losing it and losing it in the ugliest way possible. Nobody I know is excited about the Republican party right now, even the Repukes can't stand the current crop.
