2. I wondered about this. I knew the bill last summer had an opt-out
but I didn't know this one had it also.

3. So they can send out a fund raising letter saying they are going to repeal the bill.
And when they loose...
They will send out a fund raising letter saying that the Supreme Court is vile cesspit of liberalism and must be defeated at all costs.
And if they win...
They will send out a fund raising letter saying they have taken the first step in defeating Obamunism, but need more money in their fight against everything UN-American and Un-Conservative.

6. Because Rethug govs and AGs don't want to come up with any plans.
That would force them to actually do something for people. We have the framework for a public option in Connecticut already, callhttp://www.ct.gov/sustinet/site/default.asped Sustinet. It was voted on about a year ago. It would provide a public option in the state...if that is what the legislature and board of directors on Sustinet eventually decide. A good start. But this is CT and we are a pretty blue state and the Dem controlled legislature overturned Repub Gov. Rell's veto of this.

10. CA will opt out of the mandates. Governor Jerry Brown will have signed single-payer by then.

11. This is my most fervent hope
Bu the guy doesn't look good on TV. Mind you, with the two other front runners fighting to appear more conservative than each other, he might have a chance.

13. I admire you optimism, but I don't think Jerry Brown will pass single payer here...
though he may want to, and I wish he could.

At this time, there is no money to fund it without new taxes. I don't think the Republicans will let such a bill pass. With California about to go bankrupt it has been very difficult to get them to act in the states own interests. Those that did will probably be removed and replaced by purer conservatives.

16. Hard to see any state opting out
It would still have to provide the health care and pay the taxes, but not get any of the subsidies.

18. All but one of the AG's filing suits are republicans, and all of them
are running for higher office.
The PA State AG has had more publicity over this issue than in all his previous life. I think he is running for governor - and I am still not sure of his name....

20. Tom Corbett ...
he has gotten more national publicity, but has been going to town going after state level elected officials for years now, in his runnup to running for governor, and the first time I heard about some arsehat AG suiing over this, I knew Corbett would be tripping over himself to get in line ...

I will note, however, while he concentrated on mostly dems early on, then started going after some R pelts once he knew he had the R nomination in hand, he HAS taken down some real douchebags ...
