The first half hour of tonight's Rachel Maddow show should be required viewing for Congress
Edited on Wed Mar-24-10 10:06 PM by aaaaaa5a
After watching her news segment on the Tea baggers and the intimidation going on, I will only add that I have "seen these people" before.

These are the same people who called themselves Dixie-crats

These are the same people who supported Strom Thurmond and his bid to be the segregation President in the 1940s and 50s.

These are the same people who wore KKK masks in the 1960's and fought against Civil Rights.

These are the same people who burn crosses in people's yards and kill young girls with bombs placed in churches.

These are the same people who throw rocks at women marching for equality in the 1970s.

These are the same people that formed George Wallace's segregation based 3rd party movement in the 1960's and 70's.

These are the same people who opposed ERA

These are the same people the GOP's "southern strategy" was created for

These are the same people who ushered Newt Gingrich into power in 1994

These are the same people who killed Mathew Shepard

These are the same people who bombed buildings in Oklahoma City

These are the same people who dragged the body of James Byrd

These are the same people who killed George Tiller

These are the same people who think Bill and Hillary Clinton killed Vincent Foster

These are the same people who think Obama is Muslim

These are the same people who think Obama wasn't born here

These are the same people who are calling Stupak's home and leaving threatening messages

These are the same people who threw a brick through the window of a Congress person's headquarters

These are the same people who target congressional districts on their websites with gun sights

The Tea Party might be new to some. But me and my family; We have seen "these people" throughout our history many times before. And it's always the same face.

Disgraceful.

... I found this copypasta while on 4chan's /new/ - News imageboard.

You didn't get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President.
You didn't get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate energy policy.
You didn't get mad when a covert CIA operative got outed.
You didn't get mad when the Pentagon misplaced $2.3 trillion.
You didn't get mad when the Patriot Act got passed.
You didn't get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us.
You didn't get mad when we spent over 600 billion(and counting) on said illegal war.
You didn't get mad when over 10 billion dollars just disappeared in Iraq.
You didn't get mad when you saw the Abu Grahib photos.
You didn't get mad when you found out we were torturing people.
You didn't get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans.
You didn't get mad when we didn't catch Bin Laden.
You didn't get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed.
You didn't get mad when we let a major US city drown.
You didn't get mad when the deficit hit the trillion dollar mark.
You didn't get mad when the debt went up $5 trillion under Bush.
You finally got mad when.. when... wait for it... when the government decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick. Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, are all ok with you but helping other Americans...

6. ...and many of these people claim to be on the side of God.
I would be that many of these people are extreme Christian religious hypocrites, who use their religion as a weapon.

disgraceful indeed! And we here in North Raleigh NC are surrounded by them!

9. Has anyone seen the History Channel special on the KKK? this whole thing reminds me
Edited on Wed Mar-24-10 10:43 PM by Jennicut
of the KKK. The History Channel plays that special on occasion and it is chilling. The use of intimidation to put fear into people so you can get away with what you want. The only thing is for these types, the world changed and passed them by. It is not the 50's and 60's any more. There are a huge # of hispanics in the country now, whites will no longer dominate in another 20 years. They popped back up in the 90's with the militias and are back again. There will always be these types of people though I must say that my Generation (Gen X) and the ones behind me (Gen Y and Z) are more tolerant of differences in people.
