Paul Hickey announces he won't run for governor
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Cheyenne lawyer Paul Hickey says he won't seek the Democratic Party nomination to run for governor of Wyoming.

No Democrat has stepped forward since Gov. Dave Freudenthal announced early this month that he wouldn't try for a third term.

Hickey is the son of the late J.J. "Joe" Hickey, who was elected governor in 1958. Paul Hickey lost the 2002 gubernatorial primary to Freudenthal.

In his announcement that he won't be running, Hickey says he hopes that a Democratic candidate for governor will emerge so the issues important to people in the state will be a part of this year's campaign.
