Is the government coming to confiscate our garden produce?
Is some talk show lunatic telling people that the government is going to take their garden produce away from them?

Just before the election last year, my brother told me that Obama was going to send people out to take the food he grows in his garden. I almost fell over. Sadly my brother watches and listens to faux news and the RightWingnut radio entertainer known as Lars Larson. :puke:

Today my elderly father was showing me a little patio they're making and a small raised bed to plant a bit of garden. Just enough for them "so they won't come and take it."

Whaaaaaaaaaaat?

What am I missing? Is this the kind of fear that's being spread? That someone from the government is coming for the garden produce?

19. And I have tried. I've brought them other sources of news, but
Well, if I don't know where they heard it... That's why I was wondering if anyone else had heard crap like this. And I'm hesitant to ask my dad and brother where they heard it because this whole political thing has them so on edge that... I'll just go through my mother. The monsters that feed this fear to elderly and isolated people are... well, they're monsters.

What usually happens is some of these "assholes for a mouth" get some piece of truth and then spin it until you don't recognize it.

6. Argh. Neighborhood Harvest programs
Where people in a community get together and take care of the fruit trees, and then split the harvest and give a portion to local food banks. They have all kinds of different names around the country. I haven't heard that Obama is planning on helping to implement these programs, but it would be a good idea if he did. It drives me crazy to see rotten fruit on the ground in the fall.

8. First I have heard of this - It is important to us because we grow
terribly liberal garden crops including organic figs.

I guess the baggers will be breaking our windows in protest.

I'm not worried about the produce police, but the RW backlash has me fearful indeed :scared:

I suggest you pick the ground cherries. They're amazing. (What, specifically, is your father listening to? Tell him the black helicopter people don't have time to steal vegetables.)
