Just how far is the right wing going to go?
During the lowest moments of the Bush presidency, when he and Cheney were BBQ'ing the Constitution in the Rose Garden while Rove humped the topiaries, I seem to recall left-wing chat rooms etc were full of threats to leave the country - mostly in the direction of Canada.

Now, still early in Obama's 1st term, he's passed a HCR bill that's roughly a copy of RomneyCare here in Massachusetts. Many good points, nothing really radical, needs a lot of improvement - no British style NHS, you know? And what do we have: right wingers talking about armed insurrection, firearms brought to town hall meetings, the governor of Texas threatening secession last spring, physical attacks on Democratic offices, threats, a cut gas line, etc.

For fuck's sake, if this is what the RW does this, what are they working themselves up to, exactly? Does the GOP leadership even understand what sort of shitstorm they're stirring up? I wonder.

1. The right would over reacted no matter what was passed

Which is one reason its such a waste to have passed a crappy bill, since the right's reaction would have been just as over the top if we had passed single payer or expanded Medicare.

3. The reason we didn't get it has little to do with the nutso right.
It has everything to do with the big-bux corporate right. As in "right" to profit from human misery.

2. Not very far.
Any fight they do engage in will be because either they have local superiority of numbers or they can hide behind something and ambush the unwary. Total cowards trying to cover their cowardice through false bravado. I am currently studying some of them at close range (shhh!). It's extremely amusing.

4. The leadership likes using intimidation, but they don't really control the nutso's at the bottom.
I think we are likely to see more individuals go off the rail and do crazy things.

One point of concern is the coming gun rally near Washington to commemorate the Oklahoma City bombing and Hitler's birthday. Not because I think they actually intend to attempt an armed insurrection. One crazy in a place like that could spark one hell of a conflagration.

8. And that shit is going to come back and bite them on the ass.
They have no clue what they've done or how dangerous those people really are and they've given them a pass to get as crazy as they can.

They've made every politician a potential target and, with Faux putting a (D) next to every disgraced (R)'s pic, the teanutters have no clue who's who.

5. Self Annihilation seems to be their Destiny...reduced to simple terms: Their Density is leading them
down the Extinct Spiral.....which appears to be their Destiny...self imposed no less.

The GOP is only the latest of many Political Systems of the past that went extinct in the self imposed/unintended consequences category

Hitlers 3 Reich went all of 14 years

Dense Leaders/societies who ignore Reality and Sanity for whatever reason eventually succumb to REASON TRUTH and SANITY....until other dense leaders reach Sovereign Power

Level...To start another Dense Spiral that eventually repeats the cycle....

Along comes Obama who seems to produce Positive Agendas/Programs

The DENSE GOP risk total extinction with adherence to rejecting Reality with moot nit picking crap bordering on Insanity

7. They are bullies & poor losers.
They were not properly socialized while growing up & they believe the world exists to serve their wants & needs. They are behaving like two year olds. The only reason they haven't acted up this badly in the past is that they were getting what they wanted - either politically or economically or both.

Now, they are not getting what they want politically or economically & they are throwing temper tantrums. They need to be put in a time out corner for a long, long period of time. Unfortunately, our media will pander to their need for attention, which will only add fuel to their bad behavior.
