McAuliffe appeal spotlights Palin
Former Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe is calling attention to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's tentative involvement in a congressional races to raise money for Virginia Rep. Tom Perriello.

Palin identified Perriello this week as one of 20 House Democrats she hopes to defeat in this year's midterm elections, after the congressman voted to support health care reform legislation.

"Tom's principled stand has put him in Sarah Palin's crosshairs. But in 2008, Virginia rejected Sarah Palin and her over-the-top rhetoric. We certainly won't stand for it now," McAuliffe wrote in a message to supporters of his unsuccessful 2009 gubernatorial campaign. "Together, let's show Sarah Palin that her irresponsible attacks only embolden our resolve to send strong leaders like Tom Perriello to Washington."

It's not the first time Democrats have spotlighted Palin's possible involvement in the Southside Virginia district. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee launched a website in late February listing potentially divisive Republican primaries where they urged Palin to get involved, with the contentious nominating fight in Perriello's district among them.
