Pres. Obama will be to Ronald Reagan as Ronald Reagan was to FDR.
And I think the right knows this. That's what scares them. I think, when it's all said and done, Reagan's legacy will join him in his grave.

4. Reagan did more damage to this country than anyone after Harding and Hoover.
Why would we NOT want to exterminate every vestige of his destructive policies?

9. Actually reagan destroyed what was left of LBJ's legacy
alot of the great society programs were cut like free school lunches, pbs, and welfare were cut under reagan. The only FDR program reagan majorly affected was social security.

10. Well to be fair, LBJ's Great Society was an extension of the New Deal.
It's all intertwined, man. :P

17. No, Reagan started the phase of deregulation
Effectively taking apart all the regulations that FDR put in place to prevent another depression.

12. How?
Obama is Reagan on steroids.
He has already transferred more Public Money to "Private" pockets than Reagan could have ever dreamed about.

THIS is FDR:
"We have come to a clear realization of the fact that true individual freedom cannot exist without economic security and independence. “Necessitous men are not free men.” People who are hungry and out of a job are the stuff of which dictatorships are made.

In our day these economic truths have become accepted as self-evident. We have accepted, so to speak, a second Bill of Rights under which a new basis of security and prosperity can be established for all—regardless of station, race, or creed.

Among these are:

The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation;

The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;

The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;

The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;

The right of every family to a decent home;

The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;

The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;

The right to a good education.

All of these rights spell security. And after this war is won we must be prepared to move forward, in the implementation of these rights, to new goals of human happiness and well-being.

America’s own rightful place in the world depends in large part upon how fully these and similar rights have been carried into practice for our citizens."---FDR

Do you see Obama heading in this direction?
There is one piece of the New Deal still left....Social Security.
Obama and the "Centrist" Democrats are busy RIGHT NOW at dismantling this last vestige, and giving that money to their friends on Wall Street.
Where the Republicans failed at destroying SS, Obama & The "Centrist" Democrats will succeed.

7. That makes sense complement him while he tears down his legacy
The difference between Obama and reagan is that reagan talked conservatism but couldn't make it work in practice due to the democratic congresses. The real achievement reagan made was in selling his economic ideas, changing the media environment by repealing the equal time rule, and starting the war on drugs. Obama doesn't seem interested in talking liberalism but he makes it happen with the help of Congress. It's also not clear that Obama is a movement democrat the way reagan was a movement repub. Right now if I was going to make a historic time comparison to Obama it would be to Nixon because both inherited wars and both had to face mobilized opposition from the other side. So far both have had to make concessions to the opposition (Obama with the abortion executive order and Nixon with the EPA). I want Obama to be our version of reagan but I'm still not sure.

8. I'll take that 49 state landslide in 2012 over a hapless GOP Establishment candidate too.
What will be the equivalent of Iran-Contra in Obama's 2nd term?

11. No, we can credit Bush for destorying Reagan's Legacy...
He ran the government using the sound economic and fiscal principals championed by Reagan...
And pulled the U.S. down to the ninth level of economic hell.
Bush is living proof that Reganomics just don't fucking work.

19. Reagan and the Me Society.
Good riddance to bad rubbish. Thanks to that second rate actor we now have a nation filled with self centered half wits controlled by cynical fat cats. His face doesn't belong on our currency, it belongs on our toilet paper.
