Republicans, why don't you just grow up and do your jobs?
Edited on Sun Mar-28-10 02:02 AM by Writer
You are elected officials whose job is to MAKE DECISIONS. Today, Obama made fifteen recess appointments, and now we have John McCan't suggesting to the press that Obama is subverting the constitution.

Well, you know what, you prune of a man? By failing to do your jobs, sitting in your little Senate chairs with your arms folded, holding your breath like Kindergartners, YOU Republicans are in fact subverting the Constitution. In fact, you're breaking the oaths that you made when you took office - to uphold the US Constitution and to honor the laws of the federal government. If you don't believe in oversight by vetting and voting on Obama's nominees, then American voters have a problem in Congress, and that problem is spelled G-O-P.

Why would independents want to keep you? Voters know that you're against this government, but they have no idea what you're FOR. I see no reason why you should stay in office if your answer to a loss of power is to throw your toys off of your high chairs. I'm sorry if the rattle isn't what you wanted, but it's not going to be any better on the dirty floor - isn't that right, isn't that right? Now let me squeeze your little cheeks.

Crying and beating the floor also won't win you votes. If you want to appeal to the 2 or 300 nerds standing on the mall with misspelled signs and wearing 100 different bastardizations of the American flag, then go right ahead. However, it takes more than 2 to 300 votes in each of your states to keep you in office.

And - one more thing - while Obama is busy changing your dirty diapers after the giant dump you took after being in power for eight years, don't complain. He might not apply the talcum as he redresses you, and diaper rash SUCKS.

KNOW WHAT I MEAN?

So just grow up and do your jobs.

2. I remember my daughter learning the word "No!" at age one
She went through a phase where everything was, "No!" The republicans are falling back on debating skills they developed as toddlers.

5. They remind me of toddlers in so many ways.
The whining. The bedwetting. The incessant cries of "It's not fair!" The blaming of everyone else for everything. The temper tantrums.

FEMA should stop building those concentration camps for conservatives and start building some day-care centers for them instead. Heavy on the formaldehyde, please.

3. and that MUST be novembers message
they think they can point at what has been done and by claiming no involvement win votes
we need to highlight their lack of involvement as a dereliction of duty
we need to ask america "can you trust them to lead when they wont even participate?"

4. Well...
I hate to point out history, but W. made recess appointments over Democratic filibusters too. Were the Dems not doing their jobs either? Or was it principled opposition for the good of the nation? You can't have it both ways.

8. Compare who idiot son recessed (Bolton, anyone?) vs. who
is getting recess-appointed and, more importantly, why.

In a statement Saturday, Obama said the recess appointments were necessary because of Republican obstruction in the Senate, which is responsible for voting on hundreds of nominations.

"If, in the interest of scoring political points, Republicans in the Senate refuse to exercise that responsibility, I must act in the interest of the American people and exercise my authority to fill these positions on an interim basis," he said. "I simply cannot allow partisan politics to stand in the way of the basic functioning of government."

The White House said the 15 appointees have waited an average of 214 days for a Senate confirmation vote. In all, the White House said, Obama has 217 nominees pending before the Senate, including 77 who are only awaiting a final floor vote.

10. You've unwittingly proven my point
Bush made something like 170 recess appointments during his presidency, and you can find 1 you disagree with. Was every one of those 170 cases principled opposition because these people were so horrific the country was going to self-destruct? Or were many or even most of those refusals to allow a Senate vote simply playing politics. Both sides do it all the time, it's part of the game. Get over it.

9. Republicans have no work ethic. They want everyone else to do the heavy
lifting. That's why if there is an important job-DO NOT LET THE REPUBLICANS NEAR IT.

12. It is obvious they want people to think govt. can't work but they are trying to cause it to happen
by blocking much needed appointees from doing their jobs. Assholes.

14. This has been their plan since the beginning. Make Obama's running of the gov. seem inefficient
while obstructing the whole way to make it "break". So people will hate govt. and be pissed off at the Dems. But they were so obvious about it.

It's been pretty clear to me too. I just hope that the vast majority of voters aren't dumb enough to seriously believe that ensuring broken, ineffectively functioning government is actually a good reason to elect more Republicans to Congress in November because that's ALL we will be getting more of. Regardless of how "mad" people are at the Dems, I seriously hope that they think twice before staying home/voting for Republicans.
