4. Yes, AF-1 crew presents each new president with one
If they served, the place for the name tag has their warfare designator, otherwise, like this one, just the Presidential Seal.

They are also armored,

3. When visitin the troops all presidents have
done that in the last 30 years or so. Actually Reagan started that.

Oh and you can bet that there is a reason why that jacket is closed... and it is not about being cool or such shit.

18. What is underneath is likely a big reason for the jacket.
I would think security more than tradition.

23. I want the Secret Service to put him in a bubble.

In other words,an invisible covering that covers him from his shoes to his hair.

Why can't they do it!

Like a ski suit that you can't see for the body and for the neck and head a bullet proof covering that can immediately detect the location of any gun anywhere near him other than the Secret Service Weapons.

8. Man in a suit is a pretty obvious target in dangerous zones
I can live with Casual Sunday for Presidents on the road.

And it's not the bomber jackets' fault an idiot from Texas wears one sometimes. ;)

14. He was wearing a suit jacket earlier

Check out the other threads on this event. The jacket looked like it had dust on it in the photos there, so maybe he changed out of it.

On edit: Here's one of those threads:
