Rep. Emanuel Clever (D-Mo.) - video proof he was spit on by a Tea Party demonstrator

A shameful day for America:

"Last weekend, as the House of Representatives gathered to debate health care reform while Tea Partiers protested outside the Capitol, word emerged that Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.) had been spit on by one of the demonstrators.

Cleaver released a statement confirming the incident, but some questioned his claims. Fox News personality Sean Hannity asked if there was any evidence proving that it had actually happened, and Tea Party groups offered a cash reward for proof.

Video shows him wiping his face. Why would he do that unless he WAS indeed spat upon?

How can anyone not believe this happened given the police officer was right there and after seeing Rep.Cleaver to safety went returned and detained the man?

11. Went to Cleaver's coffee yesterday morning

He has them regularly. An email alert went out to pack the place in case our local teabaggers planned on being there.

I pulled in the parking lot at 7 am and a man in a truck with a NOBAMA bumper sticker took the last open spot. So I went across the street and parked between two cars with teabagger bumper stickers.

The coffee didn't begin till 8 and the place was packed when I walked in. I said hello to Cleaver's aide as he was handing out slips to fill out if you wanted to talk to him one on one. He was at #25. And the congressman wasn't due to arrive to meet with anyone for another hour.

I saw a lot of familiar faces and a few people I didn't know. A lady I know was handing out signs that said THANK YOU so I got one and ordered my coffee, ready to out shout the teabaggers when Cleaver arrived.

More and more people kept coming. It was a madhouse. I wasn't expecting anything other than an outburst of teabagger hate.

Then Cleaver walked in and the place erupted IN CHEERS. It was awesome. People were screaming, running up and hugging him. I saw a few tears also.

He spoke to us for a few minutes before he started meeting with folks individually. He told a sad story about a friend who called him the night before the vote (the evening of the day he was spat on) and he said his friend's story of his health care nightmare inspired him to vote for HCR.

He never mentioned the spitting incident.

No one booed. Not one person.

And the people I didn't recognize - they were cops. :)

We love Cleaver here. And we showed him a lot of love yesterday morning.

4. We're all in this together

Rep. Cleaver happens to be among the staunchest supporters of disability issues in all Congress.

However, my Spidey-sense is telling me that isn't the reason he was spat upon. :eyes:

I wonder about a flag on a long pole that I saw carried in the street from camera right-to-left near the end of the clip. It had a red background and a black symbol on a white circle at the center. From a distance, it looked like three letters 'T' 120 degrees apart, the bases of the letter meeting at the center. Its design is remarkably close to the Nazi political banner. Fitting, then, that I saw a ragtag band of mindless automatons following this banner; I got the feeling they would follow the flagbearer off the edge of a cliff if he led the way.

She would have told him that he could file assault charges, and as I remember it was reported that he declined to press charges.
She should come forward-
