Irony: RW denouncing the President because he's a constitutional law professor
Palin Tells Constitution-Loving Tea Partiers: We Don’t Need A President Who Is A ‘Constitutional Law Professor’

The Tea Party movement loves to express its affection for the Constitution...

In her speech at the rally, Sarah Palin of course paid homage to the Constitution. “Our vision for America is anchored in time-tested truths that the government that governs least governs best, that the Constitution provides the path to a more perfect union — it’s the Constitution,” she exclaimed. And so it’s extremely puzzling that Palin introduced this new attack line against President Obama yesterday:

In these volatile times when we are a nation at war, now more than ever is when we need a commander-in-chief, not a constitutional law professor lecturing us from a lectern.

Ironically, the crowd cheered wildly at Palin’s line. Watch it:

<...>

Perhaps the Tea Partiers feel more comfortable with an “MBA President” who leads the country into economic and international crises.

3. Because she'd rather wrap that Constitution around her head like a doo-rag
rather than actually know what's written in it!

8. Jim Morrison wanted to pull off what apparently Palin is doing ...
read it in "No one here gets out alive" ...

just 3 or 4 people strategically placed in a crowd could turn it into a violent mob ...

6. It's the "professor" dig that sells to the ignorant.
The anti-education sentiment runs deep with them.

7. Get it? It's "EGGHEAD Adlai." "HARVARD BOUTIQUE Dukakis." Anti-intellectualism looms large.

9. they don't even bother to listen to the words. it's ALL about the emotions.
it's been that way for republicans since reagan.

neurologist and author oliver sacks wrote about aphasiacs (people who lost function only in portions of their brain) watching and hearing a reagan speech.

their reactions were interesting. those who could process the words but not the emotion were frightened at the severity of his language and disturbed by the incoherence of his language. those who could process the emotions but not the substance of the speech laughed hysterically because he was such an obvious fraud when conveying emotions.

i think this is at the root of the republican rank-and-file mentality/support. they look to the emotions and the authority cues and respond accordingly. they don't look to the substance beyond learning the catch-phrases their leaders want them to repeat. the hypocrisy that's rampant in republican policy and politics is a non-issue for them because they simply don't process that. it's all substance, and they only process the emotions and authority cues.

in sarah palin's speech line, her voice rises and falls and she pauses for applause, so they applaud. they hear the emotionally laden term "commander-in-chief" and hear that she's saying we need a strong leader and don't have one, and THAT appeals to them. it has nothing to do with the constitution or their love of the constitution or the background of being a constitutional law professor.

it goes without saying that if they ever were to nominate a constitutional law professor to run for president, they naturally would trumpet that far and wide as a major boon and call their opponent pathetically unqualified by comparison.
