Crazy Palin urges teabaggers to "pull over" cars with Obama bumperstickers
I heard about 10 seconds of her nasally grating voice before switching the channel, and she was telling teabaggers in Nevada, "When you see a car with an Obama bumper sticker, pull them over. Then ask them how that hopey changey thing is workin out for them." Pull them over?!!

So, if you're driving down the street and some whackjob driving a beat up truck with a rifle rack on the back tries to "pull you over," presumably by driving you off the road or pulling up beside you, honking and waving you to the side of the road, you'll know who and why. Call 911.

That bitch is fucking crazy.

1. That may result in a number of dead Nevada teabaggers.
Bad idea, and one I hope she's held accountable for.

130. stop that Subaru! oh thanks for this!

"That bumper sticker that maybe you'll see on the next Subaru driving by -- an Obama bumper sticker -- you should stop the driver and say, 'So how is that hopey, changey thing working out for ya?'" Palin said, poking at two words closely tied to Mr. Obama's 2008 presidential campaign, "hope" and "change."

She did clarify her remark so as to not offend Subaru owners: "I shouldn't be disrespectful; I don't have anything against Subarus."

Get a license plate number, pick up your cell phone and call 911. If you have to stop, tell the asshole that the cops are on the way. Don't argue, don't get smart, just fold your arms, lean on your car and wait for the police. Don't worry about pissing off the 911 operator. Your life may be in danger and you have every right to make the 911 call.

232. Please Do Not Pull Over
and wait, keep driving. If you get out of the car you are a much easier target. Standing there saying nothing would most likely enrage them and get you shot or physically attacked. Call 911 with a full account of the incident and get to a public place with lots of people and disappear into the crowd if you are afraid to keep driving.

114. Now it's starting to make sense.
I live in Tennessee, and we ran an article about that today. We also have a letter to the editor from a woman who had an Obama sticker on her bumper and was harrassed at a fabric and craft store. She was about to leave, and a well-dressed white woman in a nice car blocked her in, made gestures and yelled at her for five minutes. I'd have gone back in the store and called the police, though maybe she felt safer in the car.

7. There have already been reports of violence
towards people with Obama stickers. You're right - that bitch is batshit crazy, and dangerous. She's playing with fire, and you betcha when something really bad happens (and it's only a matter of time), she will deny playing any part in it. And the media will let her get away with it, just like they let O'Reilly off the hook when Dr. Tiller was murdered.

We still have our sticker on, but I'm tempted everyday to remove it. We live in a very red, hillbilly part of Virginia. I wouldn't put it past any member of this community to try something that Palin suggests.

do you remember some rallies lead by Palin in 2008? Me, too. I also remember her standing idly by with a stupid smile on her stupid face, while audience members called Obama a terrorist, and called for him to be killed. Neither she nor McCain said a fucking word.

She incites violence outright and by 'code'. She is a simply awful human being, and it boggles the mind that even one person thinks she's worth a second look.

Hasn't Sarah Palin done enough damage to The United States of America already? Just today she asked her followers to "pull over cars with Obama stickers and harass the occupants." Discovery Channel: What are you thinking? CHANGE YOUR MIND AND DUMP THIS IDEA.

218. Thanks, here's mine
Why would you give Sarah Palin more airtime than she has already garnered?

Just today she asked her followers to "pull over cars with Obama stickers and ask the occupants how that hopey-changey thing is working out for ya."

How threatening and bizarre is that? I'm a 62-year-old woman and if some stranger pulls my car over, unless they quite visibly a cop, I am likely to have a heart attack.

As for how "this hopey-changey thing is working for me" I'd say "Remarkably well, thank you," and if I'm approached in a reasonably sane manner I will be glad to give as many reasons as the listener has time for. I am PROUD of my president, and my car wears its Obama stickers proudly as well.

Discovery Channel: What are you thinking giving Sarah Palin, rabble-rouser, yet another podium to sound off on her incitements to violence?

Kindly rethink this half-baked-Alaska notion.

... ringleading a dozen teens to party in an empty house (it was for sale) and doing $20 to $30,000 worth of damage. Mommy Dearest held a powwow with law enforcement leaders, called in favors, and all the boys involved are being criminally charged and all the girls involved are skating. This happened Dec. 13 last year.

And it's as hillbilly as it sounds. There are neighbors (dirt poor) down the road who had a HUGH!1! George Allen sign in their front window for months after the 2006 election. The yards were packed with McCain/Palin signs in 2008. There was one yard that was on the 'main road' that had one HUGH McCain/Palin sign, and and even HUGHER!1! 'Virginia is McCain Country' with a SPOTLIGHT on it.

This weekend there is a 'mock crucifixion' on the same main road. Leading up to this performance are signs proclaiming that non-believers will BURN IN HELL!!! REPENT!! You cannot get anywhere in this town without seeing this stupid shit.

9. she singled out subarus with obama bumper stickers

I drive a Subaru with Obama bumper stickers on it. Oh I'd love to give her a piece of my mind.

55. "stop the driver"? and how does she suggest they do that?
even worse phrasing than "pull them over" (which is probably how I would've remembered it too, btw), this sounds like she could be advocating "just toss your latest moose kill on their hood to get them to stop" or "run out in front waving your hands like a maniac". These people are so stupid they would do it.

"great! for all his admitted shortcomings, Obama is far and away the greatest president in my lifetime, if not in history, and his very presence in that job does more to dissolve centuries of bigotry than anything else I could imagine. Besides, it's such a breath of fresh air after the last eight years, let alone the whole stupid mindset amplified by Reagan and going back to the paranoias of the McCarthy era. And it's great the way Obama and the progressives in the House turned the radical right into the laughing stocks they deserve to be, crushing them like ants on the basketball court of actually getting things done..." and then, hopefully, the cops would show up because I'd have dialed 911 first.

OK, probably not what I'd actually do in the circumstances. I'd sweet talk them until the cops showed up, asking about the constitution and other issues that might appeal to me. Then I'd turn them in.

21. she sure did
Her remarks focused mainly on Sen. Reid, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and President Obama, the latter of whom was the opponent of the McCain-Palin ticket in the 2008 presidential campaign. Palin beckoned to two familiar phrases from the Obama-Biden campaign.

Being "pulled over" by anyone not a cop would just about give me a heart attack, and I'd have to suspect the worst -- particularly if they pulled that stunt at night.

Would it be okay to open the window just a few inches and spray out? or would there be too much danger of the mist blowing back into the car?

LOL -- sometimes having a penis has its perks -- its great for comedy.

I don't know if you can consider this a hate crime per se, but I believe an act of political intimidation through the threat of violence or the use of force certainly qualifies as terrorism. Maybe he should be waterboarded until we get some actionalbe (is that even a word?) intelligence, or some such, then ship his ass off to first class accomodations at GITMO. He can have all nighters practicing stress positions, and play with the dogs.

Militia groups and other right wing kooks are a potential danger to everyone. The FBI should not be wasting time watching Quakers and other anti-war demonstrators. 189. It all boils down to common courtesy...
Do we really need a country that looks like a third world war zone? Funny how many liberals support open carry and CCW but don't show up at rallies with an AR-17.

Here is some ancient wisdom I tend to agree with.

Sharp weapons are inauspicious instruments.
Everyone hates them.
Therefore the man of the Tao is not comfortable with them.

In the domestic affairs of the gentleman
The left is the position of honor.
In military affairs the right is the position of honor.
Since weapons are inauspicious instruments, they are not the instruments of the gentleman
So he uses them without enjoyment
And values plainness.

Victory is never sweet.

Those for whom victory is sweet
Are those who enjoy killing.
If you enjoy killing, you cannot gain the trust of the people.

On auspicious occasions the place of honor is on the left.
On inauspicious occasions the place of honor is on the right.
The lieutenant commander stands on the left.
The commander-in-chief stands on the right.
And they speak, using the funerary rites to bury them.

The common people, from whom all the dead have come
Weep in lamentation.
The victors bury them with funerary rites.

#31 Tao Te Ching

To put in finely, we have more respect and appreciation for weapons than these douchebags.

276. Clearly, they are punking for violence...
They are counting on:

(1) The stereotype that liberals/Democrats are easily pushed around (much of this is true);
(2) That MSM is already intimidated enough with the FR and loathe the "Left," and will subsequently characterize violence as "both sides," "coarse dialogue," or "rancorous debate," etc.;
(3) In any case, they immediately frame and condemn MSM, making them part of the enemy;
(4) Persistent one-sided violence (see 1. above), after which the GOP will say "I told you so" and become the reasonable alternative.

They are train-wreckers of the highest order and are quite smart about it. And "progressives'" obsession with "bullyism" only confirms this.

the media seems to broadcast all the negative stuff they can about Obama. I'm really fed up with it all. No wonder this place is called CF nation.

They bought the media and since Reagan/BushI they have controlled the intelligence services in the nation. They maintained control after Clinton was elected and they maintain control now that Obama is in office. The PTB-the military/intelligence industrial complex.

She said that they are overly biased *in favor* of Obama. I couldn't believe it. In fact, she laughed when I told her that it wasn't true, as if to say that I have no idea what I'm talking about. This woman is incredibly well educated. She brands herself a liberal. But she doesn't really keep up with politics as much as I do. That's how bad this country's people have been propagandized.

263. Propagandized is right.
People of every political stripe now have a distorted understanding of the media. Any cursory glance at the media would reveal that it is biased against Obama. Any GOP criticism of Obama is given top priority by every cable news network. Ask your friend to contrast how the media treats Obama with how they treated George Bush.

She is instigating violence. Plus, Caribou Barbie has not dropped her affiliation with her white separatist organization while she's on this media blitz, has she? After all, has anyone looked whether she still has that polar bear pin on her lapel as she is on these $100,000 speaking engagements?

I'm sure that no one has forgotten that she did instigate the same type of virulent violence against a certain sitting Senator (now POTUS) during the 2008 election. She has far crossed into federal violation territory with her "borderline" remarks.

Edited on Mon Mar-29-10 05:10 PM by Vicar In A Tutu
I hope the President is looking into it. To quote George Bush, but in a rather different context, there should be limits on freedom. She has gone far, far beyond reason and is actively encouraging harrasment and indeed violence. I don't even think she is evil or in need of harsh punishment, she just needs to be forced to spend the rest of her days locked in a very secure, very caring place with no contact link to the outside world. Kind people will tend to her needs. Someone must help this insane woman before she wreaks genuine havoc on the USA.

327. I've been misunderstood somewhat (my own fault!)
Reading back through my post, what I intended to be a serious point garnished with some dark humour didn't turn out quite as well as it could've done and did indeed end up looking like serious dystopian propaganda.

The point I was trying to get at is that the impression I get from watching her is that Mrs. Palin is genuinely - and dangerously, given her position - mentally ill. Not evil or inherently bad, but in need of help. I don't think a remotely stable individual behaves in the extremely erratic way that she does and I think if an average citizen behaved in such a publicly incendiary way for such a prolonged period of time they might find themselves receiving care in a psychiatric hospital for an extended period. I wish her the best, outside of politics, same for the people whipped into a violence fuelled frenzy by extreme-right distortions. They need treatment and care, not to be hurting people on the say-so of their political idols.

329. I see what you're saying now
Given that context I can now understand your original post as you intended.

Do you think an alternative explanation could be that Palin's a narcissistic opportunist (ok, granted we're still in mental illness territory here) who is vaguely aware of the damage she does, but can dismiss it as acceptable in pursuit of her own selfish goals, which appear to mainly revolve around more attention, more validation, and more power?

I guess it's degrees of mental illness, but I tend to think she's not nearly so far gone that she doesn't understand the implications of her actions.

34. She may be crazy and dangerous, but
she does turns huge numbers of independents and moderates away from the Republican party. I remember that when I canvassed for Obama in 2008, countless numbers of people told me they weren't sure who to vote for and would wait to see the VP selections before they made up their minds. And then after she was selected, almost all of the independents who decided on Obama said she was the major tipping point in why they could not support McCain.
The problem is that the masses of brain-dead Teabaggers who are her base take whatever she says literally.

is writing her stuff. Who is in her entourage? This is planned. She is not clever enough. But, she is nasty enough. And the Republicans/barons figured it out. Exposure will go a long way.

Those who coached Bush were obvious - they were always with him - Bartlett, Rove, and that female whose name I can't remember (not the first time - ok Karen Hughes).

This has escalated up beyond just Armey - this is major manipulation.

Take a look at the words. She said 'stop' them, not 'pull them over'. The differences are legally interesting. Since it is a bumper sticker, everyone thinks stopping them while the car is in motion, assuming highway or street or parking lot. If challenged, they only have to say they meant stop them when they are out of the car or they can say it is just cute rhetoric.

I would say a lawyer is part of the entourage.

185. She only pauses in her speeches long enough for hecklers to get their faces punched
thrown to the ground, and dragged out by security. I guess she thinks that her audience can treat people with Obama bumperstickers the same way as those hecklers.

This really isn't going to end well for Palin, and probably not for a few other tea baggers. I knew it when she did the "reload", target, crosshair nonsense, and even defended it (albeit poorly) - she is too stupid not to stand on her "free speech" rights, as she misunderstands them to be, and continue what she thinks is a clever escalation.

She thinks she is just getting under the skin of liberals, as she rakes in the bucks from her lunatic fringe. If she continues, she may get infamous for other reasons. How's that dopey on a ropey thing working for ya, Palin? I just can't stand her, but I have a feeling she is digging her own political grave on this one -and maybe even a fat lawsuit she won't be able to deflect.

Jail time would be a bonus. Admit even I didn't think she was think stupid.

A .357 magnun. I'm embarrassed to admit that because it's a "bit much," but my dad bought it for me. He wanted to make sure I could protect myself and, apparently, nothing smaller would do the trick. lol

Wingnuts seem to think they're the only ones to who own guns or know how to shoot. In reality they're the ones who misuse their guns by using them to intimidate and scare other people. My dad always taught me not to go around telling people that I own a gun (they might come to steal it), never to "show it off" to people, and never to pick up it unless I intend to shoot it, clean it or move it.

I just broke rule #1 by telling you I own one, but no one knows who I am so I think I'm safe. Sorry dad.

78. Obama should have indicted Bush and Cheney.
These right-wingers are trying to incite some action that they can then use as an excuse to become violent.

Glenn Beck is leading the pack. At this point, various right-wingers are competing to see who will manage to incite the most violence against anyone who thinks differently than they do or even just doesn't join in their violence.

Had Obama indicted Bush and Cheney, he would have gained the respect of these crazies. Too bad.

These people are not rational. They respond only to fear, not to reason.

I think that you can look at the situation two ways. Had the black president indicted the white republican president; do you not think that it would of drove them overboard? Seeing that it is usually the white man putting the black man in jail. I do not think Obama can do anything to make these people respect him. I believe in some cases you cannot turn hate into respect.

306. True, you can't turn hate into respect, but you can turn
fear into respect when all else fails. Had Obama indicted Bush, Cheney, and/or Rumsfeld and others who authorized the torture, especially the waterboarding which has historically been recognized as torture, extremists on the right would have feared him, and based on their fear, respected him.

Sometimes you have to confront wrongdoing. You don't avenge it by yourself. You confront it by bringing the case for wrongdoing before a judge who will render a judgment as fairly and impartially as possible. That is what Obama failed to do with those who had committed serious wrongs in the administration before him. He failed to confront them in courts of law. He failed to do the one thing that would have caused them to fear and respect him.

192. The exact quote is apparently different from the OP's quote
This is from the Politics Daily web site:

"In Searchlight, Palin railed against the health care billl, Obama's overhaul of the student loan program and bank bailouts. "We've got news for them, we get it. We understand plenty -- and we still don't like it." She said reports from mainstream media of conservatives inciting violence were a "bunch of bunk." Don't let anyone tell you, she advised the tea party folks, to "sit down and shut up." And the next time you see someone driving a car with an Obama sticker, she suggested, ask the driver, "so is that hopey changey thing workin' out for you?"

168. This can be an opportunity-Heat up your cameras
Every one of these creeps we can catch on video reckless driving or menacing other motorists or even using flashing lights to impersonate a police vehicle can be flushed.
Your local law enforcer should eagerly pounce on anyone so recorded.
Its a fat fine at minimum, perhaps it will mean the driving privileges of the puke in question.
If they abuse the flashing lights, it could be a little jail time for them.
It's fun to fantasize about just chopping anyone ignorant and aggressive enough to follow Palin.
But feeding them into the Injustice System would be a good deal more educational.
Smile, Freep, you're on Candid Camera!

It's much more powerful and damaging to catch these neanderthals on video, then post it for the world to see.

I'm in a very blue area, so it's not going to happen here. Still, I'd love to be pulled over by one of them and then ask them on video where they got the idea for this stupid stunt.

246. You don't want to seem like you're condoning violence, but if someone...............
..............were to pull you over with your wife/spouse and/or kids in the car what would you do? What should you do? My opinion is that if something like that happens you would be rightfully in fear of your life and you SHOULD act accordingly. Hopefully a cell phone would be the "weapon of choice" and if you called for help it could be there in a matter of minutes to arrest the fucker, but barring that I (myself anyway) would get out swinging. When you get down to this kind of shit, it's strictly a matter of self defense. I think at this stage, if nothing is done to stop or deter these "people" we should be aware of first protecting ourselves and our families in ANY way possible. I am tired of this bullying shit and I believe it will get worse unless there is a concerted effort to stop it.

has a nice message up that is moving along.

I've tried fooling around with various links, but cannot pull up this specific one I got this morning.

Please Drop Sarah Palin's New Show

To: David Zaslav President & CEO, Discovery Communications

As a supporter of Defenders of Wildlife, I am disappointed and angered by Discovery Communication's decision to produce and air Sarah Palin's Alaska. As governor, Sarah Palin championed a bloody aerial wolf-slaughter campaign that continues to this very day. She even planned on offering a $150 bounty for the severed forelimb of each killed wolf. Palin also fought against increased protections for struggling Cook Inlet beluga whales and America's only populations of polar bears.

As parent company of Animal Planet, The Discovery Channel and TLC, and known for your wildlife-focused productions, I hope that you will reconsider your decision to partner with such a terribly anti-wildlife and politically divisive persona as Sarah Palin.

On my lunch break yesterday, I saw a VW Beetle with all kinds of progressive bumper stickers on the rear end. Since I was in the adjacent lane, I pulled up level with the car. It was an elderly lady, probably in her early 70's I'd guess. I honked the horn a couple of times to get her attention, and when she looked over, I gave her a GREAT BIG THUMBS UP and waved. I got a nice, big smile and thumbs up in reply. Made my day.

I say, we make it a point to go out of our way to acknowledge other progressive drivers WHEN IT'S SAFE TO DO SO, OF COURSE.

In one the case we saw, the guy called 911...in the case of others that may come...well, as Wyatt said, 'Bring it on...we got guns too.'

This is gonna be bad...very bad. Hell, maybe a 'Two-state Solution' is the only one left. Of course the last time that was tried, it didn't really work out now did it?

324. This female is dangerous
she is a verbal pyromaniac agitator and she doesn't care what kind of damage her rhetoric instigates. As long as she gets paid, she doesn't give a shit what she says and how it's taken. It's obvious that those who glom onto her BS are mentally unhinged already--it won't take much to send them over the edge with the belief that what they do is for God's army of the righteous, all the while, drawing their unemployment/disability/SS/medicare-medicaid government hand out checks.

The first thing she will say when someone does exactly what she ordered them to do is to claim that it's the "lamestream media"--from which she draws a hefty paycheck herself--fault for disseminating what she says to the crazies.

This is a woman who is rotten to her core; her soul is as black and void as deepest space.

And just so she knows--that "hopey-changing thing" is working out really well for all of us who are well adjusted, mentally healthy and sound. It's only bad for those mediocre knot-heads who are too backwards to make anything of their lives except to be mired down in hatred. Hatred is what they've learned to live with, since they are incapable of rising above it.
