The administration can run but they can't hide from the best solution |
|
Single Payer.
As the insurance companies and corporations keep their lawyers working overtime to wiggle and worm their way out of their new responsibilities, single payer emerges ever larger as the way to resolve all the headaches that appear on our collective doorstep.
I'm not holding my breath for them to embrace the obvious. But it's the only way to save the massive amount of time, money and lives that will be wasted fighting the scummy ring that lives around our national bathtub.

it will be because of this bill. The state's program will have adequate funding because of this bill.

Since the insurance companies couldn't wait for the ink to dry on Obama's signature to fire the first volley - it's ridiculous to wait patiently for state by state solutions. The administration can grab its balls and stand up tall for all the American people with the threat of Single Payer.
There's truth in what you posted. However, as I pointed out in my OP, lives will be wasted as we fight the corporations point by torturous point in endless litigation, clarifications and other corrective measures.
You haven't convinced me in the least to change my mind about this matter.

14. You provide no links in your OP, |
|
but expect others to provide. You also assume companies won't search for loopholes in anything resembling single payer, as well. No bill is air tight. You'll find an exploit in every law if you look hard enough. Do you think insurance did themselves any favors by shining a light on this exploit? While you continue focusing on the end game, I'll be content with the fight that brings us one step closer.

16. My OP was nothing more than my own thoughts |
|
That's permitted here and common every day. I didn't "expect" a link but "asked" for one since Pro Sense's point appeared to be based on something more than their own thoughts.
I don't believe that the insurance companies shined any light but instead tried to get away with something. It's a first volley, probably one of many to come, imo. They aren't afraid. This is going to be a long game played by massively wealthy, incredibly powerful individuals whose aim is to keep their wealth.
Yes, I'm focusing on the end game. It's how you get there.

20. Not according to history |

Considering six other presidents including Kennedy tried and failed, I think I'll stick with incremental changes. At least, I can say that method has brought us closer to Single Payer than 6 decades of your method.

"Since the insurance companies couldn't wait for the ink to dry on Obama's signature to fire the first volley"?
What the hell does that have to do with the provision? You had no idea that it was in the plan, now you're unconvinced?
"it's ridiculous to wait patiently for state by state solutions"
Absurd.

And since you've decided to leap to the ad hominem I'll let you now that I don't trust you.
So thanks for the replies but I'm done with you regarding this issue.

23. Very unlikely any state will enact single payer |
|
not under current economic conditions, and not after the 12-month spectacle we just witnessed. No local politician will want to subject him/herself to what the Dems just went through.

It is impossible in this climate to get single payer. Hell, they could barely get what they got.
I'm all for single payer, but that's a fight to carry into the future, and saying the administration is running from anything is just complete b.s.
