I wouldn't be so worried except that the GOP is in bed with every multi-gazillion corporation in America.

2. We are screwed, but then again it's not just the GOP,
Both parties are in bed with every multi-gazillion corporation in American.

That's why it's called the two party/same corporate master system of government.

Actually this ruling is a blessing in disguise, it brings out in the open what has been going on behind the scenes for years and decades.

3. I wish I could
It's scary.

There are two things that calm me when I think of it. The money doesn't actually pay for votes but advertising. The GOP is so obviously over-the-top batbleep crazy, I think they're turning off huge numbers of voters. Plus, tea party candidates are going to be a real thorn in their sides. They'll take away votes and/or force the "regular" repukes to go so batbleep crazy themselves, no one will vote for them but tea baggers.

Plus, things will get better. How would you feel now if you have a kid who has to pay for college?

In the meantime, visualize Scalia retiring to a tropical island somewhere and taking Thomas with him.

7. I know you are right about both parties being corporate whores but
if you're on the winning "side" it might seem so bad.

8. Trouble is when both parties are corporately corrupted, there is no winning side
We all lose.

9. corporations already pretty much had free rein
They could already contribute as much money as they wanted to a 527 as long as the PAC didn't explicitly say "vote for Jim Smith" or "don't vote for Jane Doe." But they could say "call Jim Smith and thank him for caring about your family" or "call Jane Doe and tell her to stop selling our future to the highest bidder."

So will it get worse? Probably, but given how good corporations are at exploiting loopholes, if they wanted to influence an election before they were going to find a way to do it. So it can't get much worse.

Does that cheer you up?
