Comparing us to them. "The President knows something we don't know"
Edited on Wed Mar-31-10 05:36 PM by county worker
I remember the wing nuts saying that Bush was right about everything because he knows things we don't know. So they were content to to along with Bush no matter what.

Today I hear this about Obama.

I also remember the wing nuts pushing their ideology no matter what the results of implementing the ideology would be. Today I hear that from the far left.

I don't have any incite into what Obama is doing or what the results of implementing a far left agenda would be, but I was taught some critical thinking skills in school way back when.

I don't think that it is wise idea for me to do what the right does or did in the name of supporting Obama or pushing a left wing ideology. There isn't only black or white.

4. We had proof of those lies too...
And now we're seeing what Obama knows come to fruition.

There's a huge difference, imho.

3. The difference is...
We're seeing proof the RW never could. The only insight you need is this past week... he's been working hard for a year now, and the results are coming in.

7. Our only enemies are not JUST the GOP and the right-wing, it's Corporate Stranglehold
of the reins of our government. IMO, the formula is way too simplistic for some here.

5. Too funny! We don't even have a viable Socialist Party in this country.
Edited on Wed Mar-31-10 05:55 PM by ShortnFiery
Aside from a smattering of perhaps, ECO-reactionary groups, there is NO *far* left in the country.

The only views permitted for discussion on the political spectrum are "centrist" or "center right."

There is not LEFT of Center to be considered as part of the DEBATE within the ruling class in the USA.

10. Your post is what started me thinking about this.
I'm not trying to win backers that's why I said I don't think it was wise for me and not wise for you or anyone else. What I am thinking is that we need to take a longer look at each idea. The day after an announcement is too soon to condemn it I think and as for the far left, you are right. I used that to mean left of center. What we call far left would be right of center in the 60's.

12. Thank you.
My view as a Progressive is that my President has abandoned my values and won't do what's IMO, morally sound and best for the wage slave American unless he's FORCED by the Progressives in our Congress.

Yes, at least for the short term, progressives such as myself might as well STFU, we presently have NO VOICE with any of our THREE Branches of Government. They're all corporate right leaning to the MAX. :(

8. False equivalency.
Bush - Intellectually incurious knee jerker.
Obama - Makes decisions based on a thorough understanding of the variables involved.

In other words....complete opposites. There is no comparision. period.

11. So you are saying we can follow Obama with out question because he is smarter than Bush?
I don't think you should surrender your thinking to either one of them.

14. Oh my gosh!
I agree with you on something! ;D :toast:

"I don't think you should surrender your thinking to either one of them."

That needs to be said loud and often.

I thought DUers were smarter than that -- 8 years of Bush showed us the need to dig dig dig for the Truth beyond the lies and the propaganda. I did not stop doing that just because a "D" is in office.

I believe there is a saying: Trust but verify.

You don't do yourself or your country any use if you shut your brain down or turn into the Dem equivelent of hear no evil/see no evil.

15. I'm "surrendering" nothing of the sort.
I'm simply pointing out that the difference between the two couldn't be more stark. On the other hand, there is a certain amount of confidence I am willing to give Obama based upon these differences.

17. I can't figure out WTF you are saying
"Today I hear that from the far left."

"pushing a left wing ideology"

Are you under the impression Obama is pushing left wing ideology? Or am I confused? Do you think the far left even supports Obama?

Huh? Or are you upset they do not?

20. Here is what I meant.
I read many posts here at DU either saying we are not progressive enough or that Obama is right in what ever he does. No Obama is not pushing a left agenda. I'm as miffed by that as anyone but I would not say he is right without critical judgment either just as I would not support someone's "progressive" idea without giving it the same critical thinking.

Oops, that's a Lawrence of Arabia quote.
