A lone Republican, Sen. Tom Coburn, said no ...unemployment benefits will expire for 1,000's
http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/04/05/unemployment.benefits/index.html?hpt=T2

CNN) -- Extended unemployment benefits will temporarily expire for thousands of Americans on Monday because the Senate went on its spring recess without approving a one-month deadline extension.

The extension, which had bipartisan support, would have cost about $10 billion, but a lone Republican, Sen. Tom Coburn, said no until the costs are offset.

The Oklahoma senator objected to a commonly used unanimous-consent agreement to pass the bill under emergency conditions, even if it increases the federal deficit. Coburn wants to eliminate additional government spending to pay for the bill.

1. Once again, stupid Senate rules allow one idiot to stop the government from functioning
for a huge segment of the population. SHAMEFUL.

after all, their politic ans aren't acting like the are part of this country. Have you seen one with any pride in being a really true American. Have you seen one who works for the good of the people and not the corporations. Kick em out and lets do for the states that really love America.

True - Coburn is an ass. True - the folks who voted for him are asses.

But there are good people down there who are just simply outnumbered. So please, no talk about kicking them out of the union.

Now if you were talking about New Jersey, well, there you'd have a point. Those people are really assholes.;)

9. The saddest thing is that the Democrats will be blamed for this. Not the Republicans!
The average American doesn't care about the legislative process. Most Americans do not realize that it only takes one senator to stop the legislative process. They care about how they feel. And the fact that the Gallup Poll showed that most Americans blame the Democrats for the current level of uncivil discourse in this country says a lot.

The Democrats, along with the mainstream media, have been remiss in hitting back hard against these treasonous bastards.

11. Newsday in NY has a full page on the "expiration of unemployment" and
didn't ONCE mention Coburn's name, or that he alone is responsible for this disaster...
