Whitman chips in $20M more in Calif. gov. race
SACRAMENTO, Calif.—Former eBay chief executive Meg Whitman on Monday gave her campaign for the GOP gubernatorial nomination another $20 million, bringing her contributions from her personal fortune to $59 million in what is expected to be the most expensive governor's race in California history.

Whitman has already spent more than $46 million in her quest to beat state Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner in the June Republican primary, paying tens of millions to blanket television and radio airwaves with ads introducing herself to California voters.

Recent polls show her with a 40- to 50-percentage point lead over Poizner and neck-and-neck with presumed Democratic nominee Jerry Brown in a presumed matchup in next November's general election.

1. Let her spend it...
She will soon discover that she cannot buy the Governership.

Jerry is smart to let her go, spending her money...letting her kick Poizner around.

He knows what he's doing...

7. All that dough is being spent on the June primary
I suspect Joe Six-pack will be extremely irritated and turned off by her ad blitz long before November.

10. That was Carly Fiorina's ad
She's the idiot running for US Senator. She's also the idiot that ran Hewlett Packard into the ground and has ZERO support from in the Silicon Valley. Heavy Silicon Valley hitters like John Doerr strongly support Boxer.

16. It does. It does, indeed.
I find myself having to fact-check which bat-shit crazy did what. Meg Whitman's abysmal voting history is one that I find myself having to re-check, again and again.

3. remember when Huffington (Arianna's ex)
tried to buy an office in California? He lost badly. If Debra Brunner is still the SOS during the election Meg will fall like a ton of bricks. If Diebold tabulates in the Rove fashion, then she'll own it like the ole boobengroper.

6. I'm beginning to get the uneasy feeling
that she might succeed in buying the governorship.

Someone talk me down!

Maybe she'll impoverish* herself and lose anyway. I hope so.

* Relatively speaking.

9. As long as she can conceal her ties to Germany....
She's got a Third Reich in her closet--if you get my drift.

15. Others have tried and failed to buy themselves in office
Michael Huffington spent a fortune trying to beat Dianne Feinstein in 1994 and Feinstein ended up winning, in a heavy GOP year. Money doesn't buy every thing. That aside, Whitman hasn't really had to go on defense, she's been playing offensive for months. Plus, she's got no grassroots organization and that's big problem for a campaign.

17. And to think $59 million is Pocket Change to the $1.8 Billion in CASH she made being Lucky at Ebay
Rolling the dice and becoming the president at eBay when it was starting out and made a fortune based on her stocks she held prior to its IPO....instant billionaire...and subsequent cash out.
