GALLUP: No signs of "healthcare backlash".
Edited on Thu Apr-08-10 12:17 PM by jefferson_dem

Healthcare Backlash?

Much of Congress' work this year has focused on healthcare, and Americans have been divided on the legislation both before and after it passed. But it is unclear how much of a voter backlash there may be against the Democratic Party this fall because of this issue. Republican and independent voters are much less likely than Democratic voters to say healthcare will be important to their vote for Congress. Moreover, among voters who say healthcare is extremely important to their vote, roughly equal percentages say they would vote for the Democratic (47%) and the Republican (48%) candidate in their district if the election were held today.

1. It is the economy that will be the issue.

2. Interesting. Apparently paranoid freepers are as concerned about terrorism
as they are about the federal budget deficit. But then they were totally unconcerned about the federal budget deficit under Bush.

I still say that Obama should have presented healthcare reform as a national security issue to keep the nation healthy in order to battle terrorism. Republicans would have had an orgasm in their support for it.

3. Many people are disgusted that this mandate doesn't come with at least ...
a robust public option.

The DNC called me yesterday asking for donations and I informed them that due to giving the GOP almost everything they wanted in this HORRIFIC health care bill, consider me an Independent.

No more money until there's PROGRESSIVE legislation.

4. What mandate?! Because...uh...that's been sort of debunked.
Unless you're speaking about the mandate that Private Enterprises must provide insurance or face a fine.
