Move Over Stormy Daniels: Another Republican May Run

In a breaking story, former Louisiana State Senator James David Cain tells The Louisiana Weekly Newspaper and Bayoubuzz that he is "seriously considering a run for the United States Senate against David Vitter".

Cain, a Republican, narrowly missed forcing a run-off in 2006 Insurance Commissioner's race against the current incumbent Jim Donelon by the razor-thin-margin of 1,368 votes, and is possessed of extensive contacts amongst Christian conservatives in Louisiana. A native of Dry Creek, outside of Lake Charles, he can draw upon extensive local support both in Western Louisiana and throughout the GOP North.

And, he makes it clear that he seeks to speak to voters across the political spectrum. "I am an Independent Conservative. I seek to reach out to everyone, White and Black, Independent, Republican, and Democrat...and not be beholden to the party machines."

"I take each issue," he continued in an interview with The Louisiana Weekly, "on its own merits." That kind of Independence is the type of leadership that Cain says is lacking in Washington.
