Barnes raises more than $900,000, leads the field

Former Gov. Roy Barnes, the Democrat seeking a return to the office, raised more than $900,000 in the first three months of the year, pushing his total raised to more than $3.6 million.

Barnes’ campaign filed its quarterly finance report with the State Ethics Commission just before 5 p.m., well in advance of tonight’s midnight deadline. Barnes has $2.84 million on hand, more than any other candidate.

Republican front-runner John Oxendine reported Tuesday he raised about $75,000 for the period but has more than $2 million on hand.

Barnes has now raised more money for the campaign than any other candidate in the race despite having joined in the fray in July.
