President Obama, hold people accountable

Dear President Obama,

Today, Dr. Phil had a program about the issue of bullying and its consequences. Children as young as 11 years old, like Carl Walker-Hoover, are taking their own lives because they have been tormented to the point that they give up. Then they take their own lives.

In every case, bystanders KNEW about the abuse. Rarely were the bullies held accountable. And so the patterns of behavior not only continue, they escalate.

Currently, in the case of Phoebe Prince, a fifteen year old Massachusetts girl who hanged herself, nine young people are being charged for the bullying by the district attorney.

I now step back and look at the bigger picture. Our country was held hostage for eight long years by bullies. It is virtually certain they cheated in order to gain control of our government. Gaining and keeping the Presidency not by democratic vote, but with a hand from the highest judiciary in the land and some people willing to rig the voting boxes.

You said you wanted to look forward and not back. By doing that, you are dismissing the damage done to our country and enabling those responsible to continue their dangerous behavior. Justice needs to be served. You said it was up to our Attorney General, Eric Holder.

Rather than being a bystander, please ask him to hold those accountable that betrayed our country by revealing the identity of undercover CIA agent Valerie Plame. Rather than being a bystander, ask him to hold those accountable, for lying us into war. Rather than being a bystander, ask AG Holder to hold those accountable for illegal use of torture.


The way adults behave gives the example for how children behave. There is a connection. There must be accountability. People must be held responsible for their actions. If they’re not, and I’m afraid we’re seeing this now, the country will run to lawlessness. And now the FBI is being pressed into action to try to turn the rising tide of bullying. For what is a bully but one person trying to intimidate another person through word and deed.

Words of hate and acts of violence and intimidation. I see the connection and I ask you, Mr. President, to not be just another bystander.
