Fox News Polls Biden’s “F-Bomb,” Gets Wrong Answer
Greg Sargent's blog

Fox News, which went bonkers over the “F-bomb” that Joe Biden dropped at the health care signing ceremony, has now done a poll to see if their flood-the-zone coverage of that very consequential moment has had an impact.

The answer is Not So Much, according to the poll’s internals:

As you may have heard, Vice President Joe Biden used foul language to describe how important he thought passage of the new health care bill was when he whispered to President Obama “this is a big expletive deal” — do you think the vice president’s use of foul language to describe the bill was offensive, or not?

Yes, offensive: 37%

No, not offensive: 57%

Fifty-seven percent of Independents, too, said it wasn’t offensive. What’s wrong with these people’s priorities, anyway?

Not even Faux could make lots of people offended!

12. I understand you believe the "f" word is inaprropiate, I am wondering why you believe the "f" word
is inappropriate. What is the reason?

14. I guess I have always assumed if it is a word I would never say in front of my grandma, then it is
probably not all that worth saying. Does the meaning of the statement change by removing it? What about the word makes you think it is appropriate?

16. "What about the word makes you think it is appropriate?"
In my opinion, the appropriateness or inappropriateness of any word comes from the usage.

If words are used to hurt people's feelings then the words are probably used inappropriately, if words are used for humor or education then the words were probably used appropriately. That is not meant to be an exhausted list, just an example.

19. Well frankly I have no problem saying fuck in front of my grandmother
My standard of inappropriate language is language that is used to hurt or demean somebody. Nobody was hurt or demeaned because Biden said that health care was a big fucking deal.

5. "Inappropriate" would be licking someone
Saying "fuck" when you think you're off-mic isn't inappropriate at all.

20. Inappropriate in the wrong setting.
It wasn't in this setting because it was between the Prez and VP. It was a mistake not considering whether the mike was open.

Inappropriate in the media when cameras are live.
Not inappropriate in one on one with congressional members. Inappropriate when strangers are involved.

3. That word can be extremely offensive if used in a different context
Exclaiming something is a "big fucking deal" is quite different from calling someone a "big fucker" or telling them to "fuck off". Frankly I'm surprised those Fox fuckers knew the difference.

13. Evidently most people took the comment as it was intended
Joe Biden is not a mean spirited person and people are aware of that.
