Gingrich: Obama is 'most radical president ever'
http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5jTW8-bu3ZPEA5eXBoY7DjjXDI1lwD9EV8IDO0
4/8/10
By RON FOURNIER
NEW ORLEANS — Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, a potential presidential candidate in 2012, called Barack Obama on Thursday "the most radical president in American history" who oversees a "secular, socialist machine."
...
"The most radical president in American history has now thrown down the gauntlet to the American people: 'I run a machine. I own Washington and there's nothing you can do about it,'" Gingrich said. He urged his fellow Republicans to stop what he called Obama's "secular, socialist machine."

....
He said Obama's policies — particularly health care and economic stimulus legislation — have put the United States on the road to socialism. The former speaker did not specifically explain why he thought Obama is a secularist, though he did say the GOP wasn't afraid of recognizing faith's role in American society.

Gingrich offered Republicans an antidote to Democratic accusations that GOP leaders do little more than oppose policies — the so-called party of no. He said Republicans should underscore the policies they favor — yes on tax cuts, a lower deficit, fewer regulations and a sensible energy plan....
--------------------
This is an amazing disconnect from reality. I wonder how many Americans buy this?

22. Never! This bat shit crazy type of politics seem to work
And he is doing what he can to utilize it. It is sad but true. The media won't question it and soon you will here the Wolf Blitzers of the world repeating that Americans believe Obama is the most radical president ever to make sure it sticks.

35. Sure, he is in to the UNINTARY Presidency, right ?
Bush/Cheney actively pushed the power of the presidency to unprecidented levels, and they whole right wing pushed for a "unitary" presidency ...

The media slept walked through it, cause Jr. was "keeping us safe ..."

But, let a wild eyed right wing partisan spew nonsense like this, and it will be run 24-7 ...

7. I'm getting good and tired of Gingrich using "secularist"
as an epithet. So what--we should be all sectarians? Why have parties when we can have denominations? I guess he's not a big fan of the separation clause.

Also, how stupid: lower taxes (awesome, Obama lowered them on 95% of all Americans), lower deficit (which is something HCR is supposed to contribute to, and oh, didn't the deficit contract under our last Democratic president?) and a sensible energy plan are all things Democrats can currently *own*.

And since fewer regulations are kind of what caused the financial crisis that might have helped Obama get elected (since the economy usually does better under a Democrat), well--does Gingrich know anything? I mean, is he just an ivory tower elitist condescending little cog in the big old right-wing talking point mill or what?

12. back when Neut still had a government job, my SIL thought he was wonderful-
"He's SO SMART!!!!"
I have yet to see him show much beyond low meanness, self aggrandizement and greed. He is an incredible pig, and his personality is so bad I sometimes think people make up evil things about him. I later find they are all true.
He is smart enough to understand what he says and does is wrong, but he does it anyway.

Neut is one of the worst humans on earth right now.

16. Gingrich is a fool...
he's not an idiot, but he has no concept of reality...he forgot about bush already? Easily the most "radical" president this nation has seen. He did more to twist the nation into knots than any before him...PO is radical for trying to untie the mess?

Gingrich as a law maker isn't one to talk about "radicals" anyway...his "contract" helped to set the stage for corporate take-over of democracy and if he knows so much, why did he leave congress in disgrace? 84 ethics charges, $300,000 in fines, left congress because of the internal working to oust him...yeah, he's got a lot to talk about...:eyes:

18. The extreme has become mainstream...
Attacks on this President that would have normally been delivered way out on the margins of freakdom have made their way to the middle - as rhetorical centerpieces for Republicans and conservatives. They make me sick, not so much because they are criticizing, with such vitriol, a President I support but for where they have taken political discourse. Shame on the bastards.

Sadly, they are using the 'radical' card to stir up 'black panther' thinking in people. It fits right in line with their "Dems forced us to attack them" thinking. I swear, they are trying their best to taunt someone on the left to attack them first to justify their insanity.

28. Oh, fer fucks sake - why can't they simply state what their policies are instead of name calling?
Oh, because they don't have any policies even though Obama has bent over backwards to work with these trolls. Obama has even incorporated their ideas, only to be rebuffed with 0 votes for his HCR bill.

The Republicans aren't serious about running this country, that's why they're out of power. I wonder what they will come up with in the fall when they need more than their base to come out? Oh, right, that will be the individual Republican candidate in a moderate district that starts talking as if he/she has a brain. The rest of this crap is mere theatrics designed to rally the base and distract the Democrats off their game. It ain't working (unless getting Rachel/Keith to make fun of them is their goal.)

It is not considered proper in polite company, but if you were to paraphrase it, their "platform" is essentially this: " we HATE that a black man is president and that we cannot really do anything about it "...

Doesn't fit on a bumper sticker or roll off the tongue as well as "Death Panel"...

40. If Obama wasn't POTUS
it would just be another Democratic POTUS that he would be railing against. Newt and the entire GOP believe that they are entitled to perpetually be in charge of the country (even though they profess to loathe government) and, consequently, having a Democratic POTUS, no matter who it is, would be "radical" (to them). :eyes:
I remember some group (Media Matters) putting together Fox News commentary on Kerry in 2004 claiming that he was the most liberal Democrat in the Senate and near-identical commentary on Obama in 2008. It was rather jarring to watch. Even the most conservative Democrat out there gets pegged as a liberal. Some people are SO nutty where I live (Indiana) that they actually have called Bayh "liberal".
:wtf:

"Gingrich has been married three times. He married Jackie Battley, his former high school geometry teacher, when he was 19 years old. She was seven years his senior at 26 years old.<56><57> They had two daughters. The couple decided to divorce after Gingrich told his wife of his extra-marital affair while she was recovering from cancer surgery."
