Anybody else watching the crowd behind Hannity? These people scare me. |
|
Edited on Fri Apr-09-10 08:30 PM by jezebel
They are RABID in their hatred of Obama and the Democrats. They are ALL white, there is not a brown or black face in the group. They are mainly middle aged or older but there are some young people. They "can't wait to take their country back". And they will be voting in droves in November. I really am starting to think the House and Senate will be lost.

The theory is that liberals give up a lot easier than hardcore conservatives.

9. And it works - we have lost the house and senate that way before. |
|
We cannot afford to lose it this time. They have just about succeeded in destroying the country and if we lose it - it is over.

3. yeah, I know there is a bit of the bandwagon effect right now going on with everyone saying how bad |
|

it is for Democrats in November and how great it is for Republicans, but it is getting hard not to believe it. Maybe it was just that I got upset reading Nate Silver's article this morning. Even Tweety tonight with Charlie Cook was depressing. Sorry.

6. I think they are miscalculating with whipping up this hatred |
|
Now, there true believers might not see the rabid hatred, but everyone else will - including many Republicans and Independents.
It is now 30 years since the 1960s ended - adn to some degree Democrats and liberals are still vilified for the 1960s. I was a college student in the turbulent 60s/70s. our protest rallies were basically peaceful and we were actually idealist. But, the angry faces of the fringe scared many of the people in the middle.
The GOP candidate will have to chose to embrace Hannity's followers or to distance himself. Not an easy choice. One danger of spending to much time winning these people is that there is a tendency to lose perspective on what the societal norm is. They can easily start to speak everywhere as if they were on Fox. That could turn people off.

|
will hurt them in 12. But in November they are going to win big I'm afraid.

Fox News creates its own reality. It's quite easy to leave it by simply changing the channel.

10. They Should. They "believe" they are fighting a worthy cause. |
|
And they are being led by crazy, amoral, self-centered demagogues who are power-hungry. Their stupidity shows that there are group of folks in this country who are willing and able to subscribe to authoritarian leadership if it means that they get a monochromatic and bland America without diversity and vigor.
They don't even bristle their feathers when Hannity ironically equates them to a domestic terrorist: Timothy McVeigh.
It only shows that there are group of folks in this country that are screwed up and easily led. :(

Our side despised Bush and they in turn despise Obama.
I'm indifferent to these people, I tune them out. As far as I'm concerned, they have as much right to protest as we did.
Freedom of speech........

13. yeah.. 'cause it's the same thing. |
|
but not really.
Freedom of speech.. of course...
They have right to protest - but what the hell are they protesting? They don't even freakin' know half the time - they throw out words like "socialism", "constitution", "founding fathers" as if it makes their idiotic, simplistic opposition make sense. It doesn't. We had valid policy issues with Bush, we had an unprecedented SC intervention into the electoral process.... THEY cannot even articulate what they are against now that they previously supported and why.

I'm not saying that it's the same thing, but they have a right to make a fool of themselves if they choose to. Freedom of speech cannot be only for those we agree with, even if what they represent is abhorrent to our way of thinking.

With Insannity having a scandal and Glenn Beckkk losing sponsors and saying he's only doing it for the money, you would think these assholes would wake up. Maybe someone should shed a lot more light on these ass clowns and show these fools who they really are. But for now we need to divide the Repukes from the Teabaggers. Let them pull 13% of the vote away from Repukes. Don't be afraid of them, that's what they want. Let them do our work for us. Let them split and divide.

3,000 people makes a good crowd at a rally, but it's nothing at the voting booth.
