McCain: Inadequate border security a result of 2008 election loss to Obama
Still whining, can't get over it.

McCain: Inadequate border security a result of 2008 election loss to Obama
By Sean J. Miller - 04/10/10 06:21 PM ET

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) attributed Washington's failure to provide "proper security" along the United States-Mexico border to his losing the 2008 presidential election.

McCain was asked about securing the border and providing a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants during an interview with the Arizona Daily Star.

"If I were president, I would have come forward with a proposal. And people keep coming to me and saying what's your proposal? I say look, I lost the election. Hello. You know, I'm reminded of that every day," McCain said.

The Tucson paper's editorial board noted that he represents a border state affected by Washington's inaction.

"Yes. Yes. I do. But so does the senator from New Mexico and the senators from California and all the border states all along. But it seems to me that the proposal should come, it's the obligation of the president of the United States to come forward with what he thinks is a proposal and then maybe we can all work together and get it resolved," he said.

"So what have I done?" he added. "Not enough."

What is it that the taxpayers of the US and, more importantly, the citizens of Arizona paying McCain to do in the US Senate? Isn't it HIS job to propose legislation to solve problems?????

:wtf:

(not that the GOP is much into solving problems nowadays other than trying to figure out how to get back in power)

ranting and raving against fictitious enemies.

7. Jeez what happened to the 1.2 billion dollar bill passed by the GOP Congress in 06.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/09/29/AR2006092901912.html\
<snip>
The Secure Fence Act authorizes the construction of at least two layers of reinforced fencing around the border town of Tecate, Calif., and a huge expanse stretching from Calexico, Calif., to Douglas, Ariz. -- virtually the entire length of Arizona's border with Mexico. Another expanse would stretch over much of the southern border of New Mexico, with another section winding through Texas, from Del Rio to Eagle Pass, and from Laredo to Brownsville.

The Department of Homeland Security would be required to install an intricate network of surveillance cameras on the Arizona border by May 30, 2007, with the entire fence set for completion by the end of 2008.

Under the measure, the secretary of homeland security would have 18 months to achieve "operational control" of the U.S. frontier, using unmanned aerial vehicles, ground-based sensors, satellites, radar and cameras to prevent all unlawful U.S. entries. Fortifying those requirements, Congress approved $1.2 billion in a separate homeland security spending bill to bankroll the fence.
<snip>

The Senate, led by a bipartisan coalition headed by Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.), followed in May with legislation that coupled many of the same border security measures with guest-worker programs that would allow illegal immigrants to find lawful employment and, eventually, citizenship.

But House GOP leaders never moved to negotiate a final compromise. Instead, this summer, they launched a series of politically freighted immigration field hearings that entrenched the House's enforcement-only approach. House Republicans saw the final passage of the fence bill last night as a victory.

11. The cheese has done slipped off McCain's cracker and the cracker itself has
dropped from his wobbly fingers thru the sewer grate where a flotilla of piss-borne rodents gnaw at it in savage frenzy.

Did I mention that I didn't like McCain to begin with?

He's playing to the rabble to protect his turf in the Senate race. Shame on him.

14. I guess it's slipped John's mind that during the financial meltdown
he made a total idiot of himself by suspending his campaign, "rushing" (sort of) to Washington and doing absolutely nothing after getting there. He must have also forgotten the incompetent fool he chose as a running mate that drove Republicans into Obama's camp. I am so sick of this guy.

Just like he knew how to get Osama Bin Laden and now he won't tell, he now knows how to stop illegal immigration but won't propose any legislation. What else can you say you know how to do yet won't do gramps? Wait I know the answer......be President.

The worst part of all this is that he is the sanest man running for the Senate here in Arizona. He has a complete bat-shit crazy former sportscaster running against him in his primary, and the Democrats can't even find someone to try and run against money-bags in the general.
