RWers mocking Obama for calling Comiskey Park 'Cominsky Park'
the joke's on them, because yeah it's technically "wrong" but it's a "mistake" made by some of the most authentic Chicagoans you will find. It's "wrong" in the way that the "correct" name of Jewel grocery store is singular, but it's not uncommon to hear people say "I'm gonna go down to the Jewels". It's wrong, but who cares, that's the way real people talk.

My 89-year-old father who grew up on the south side insisted on calling it Cominsky. I am almost positive I've heard Mayor Daley call it that. Maybe it's an Irish thing? My dad's big-time Irish. Obama's Irish.

1. Dubya's NEW-KEW-LURR anyone?

Or how about Dan Quayle's "We're gonna go past to the back!" instead of "back to the past".

At least 'Comiskey' and 'Cominsky' sound almost alike.

2. Saying it like it's spelled makes me feel like my nose is stuffy
Putting an N in there is perfectly natural for speaking comfortably.

4. Just Googled the term 'Cominskey'
and I see that the flying monkey brigade is all over it. FWIW, I called it 'Cominskey Park' for years, even though I knew better; it just rolls off the tongue easier than 'Comiskey,' and I've heard a boatload of people call it 'Cominskey' - even sportscasters. For that matter, I have to catch myself to keep from saying 'Soldiers Field' instead of the correct singular version.

In the end, it just points to the pettiness and mean-spiritedness of these dickheimers. After eight years of hearing Chimpy McCokespoon mangle the English language, they've got some fuckin' nerve even mentioning such a minor grammatical infraction. I'm sure this 'major gaffe' will be a great comfort to them.

I thought Obama had butchered the name even worse. It doesn't really matter . Actually, why am I replying to this thread?

Oh yeah President Obama is cutting down on nukes! Oh and president reagan tried doing it too. Somehow things are only evil when Obama does them.

8. Yes, I see there is "no way" the new START treaty can pass the Senate even though the previous ones
passed overwhelming. Didn't Lieberman say that today? I read the headline but haven't bothered with checking it out further yet.

It is just f#$king pathetic how Republicans act now.
