Strange how every speech Obama is about to make could break/make his career!
Edited on Mon Nov-30-09 07:59 PM by FrenchieCat
I just find it strange that it always seem that every single big billed speech that Obama is about to make, he is told, will either make him or break him. Plenty of people in the media and on blogs tells him for weeks beforehand what he should say, how he should say it, and what it should mean. Usually it adds up to the impossible.

that was the case with his New Hampshire speech (not many weeks of suggestions, but still, they said if he handled it badly, all could be over),
That was the case with the Race Speech.
Then there was his Nomination speech in Denver;
then how he would handle McCain and the Financial meltdown, i.e., the debates,
then the inauguration speech,
then the state of the Union speech
then the Cairo Speech (moreso for those in the Muslim and Jewish world),
then the health care speech joint address speech....

This man is tested more than my teenagers!

This time, this will test if this country is ready to trust this particular man
to do the right thing in making a decision to continue the status quo on this war,
or change the strategy which has direct life or death consequences....

We shall see.

5. I don't believe in ignoring
differing viewpoints. I want to see what the armchair generals are saying. Still waiting for a reason why fighting poor Afghani Pashtuns is neccessary.

11. What's the over /under
on cynical manipulation of people with tales of womens right violations? Ignoring the fact that both sides over there do it.........

My dad didn't put up with certain people. He had a reputation for withering total strangers with a bare minimum of word usage.

2. Tomorrow is the speech that sends soldiers to their deaths
The others don't hold a candle to the importance of what may be coming tomorrow evening.

4. I'm sure this one is the most important so far......
Althought the one on health care dealt with lives of millions of Americans too.

Soldiers have been sent to their deaths for the last 8 years....
I don't believe that what Obama is doing tomorrow is asking for authorization
to use force, as that was granted long ago. He is giving us a new strategy,
hopefully with an end in sight.....so that soldiers can stop dying in the long run,
and can come home and live productive lives.

Hell at some point, we might not be ever needing an army at all,
and if we have one, none will ever be sent to war......

12. If you will be gathering signature to run for President,
so that when you're elected,
you can order me into the armed forces.
Then, I guess, I wouldn't have a choice.

It be something if folks in the military joined up not knowing that
being in the military meant considering we have been at war for 8 years.

15. Not really.
I'm not the one delussional enough to have decided that this President is starting a new war that everyone in congress didn't authorize it, including the Kutch, Mr. Peace Department himself.

I'm not going to pretend that he's already made his speech and there is no end in sight.

I'll leave that to you.

How does it feel to have found an issue to be passionate about after so long?
And issue that's been going on right under your nose for the past 8 years?

16. Sounds like you're willing to let others go to their deaths for what you believe in ...
...while you sit there safely.

17. "It be something if folks in the military joined up not knowing that ..."
Some needed health insurances and had a mortgage to pay off. The sewage treatment plant wasn't offering any jobs...

20. IT was Obama's war as of January 20th, if one believes what they read.....
guess it is better for him to actually be in charge of it in that case.
