The man with the long name and his quest for the "Nuclear Pipe".
Edited on Sun Apr-11-10 11:32 PM by Renwiick
The situation in Iran continues to evolve. The man with the long name wants nothing more than to be perceived as a player. He knows possessing a nuclear pipe is the key to that perception. Living in the shadow of America's power will not do. In his country he sees buildings with broken windows created by the percussion waves of previous wars. Ahmadinejad envies the tall building of America for they have no broken windows. Ahmadinejad is like a lion with a sliver in his paw. But unlike the lion, the sliver is in his mind. And his mind will feel no comfort until the job of revenge is done.

Put the bong down and come back to the real world? Al Dinner-jacket is a figurehead.

BTW do you see trails? ;)

3. It's my understanding that Ahmadinejad has no functional power other than figure head / mouth piece.
He plays the press well, and they come to the dance. Yet, I've always assumed the day-to-day functioning of political power in Iran was the Council of Mullahs. And I think they play him, as well.

Tehran, Iran, I can attest to the fact that although Iranian culture is much different than ours, they don't love their children any less.

It would be HORRIFIC if anyone were to bomb Iran.

During war, it's not the leaders who suffer, it's the old men, women and children who are left to pick up the pieces.

I hope and pray that there's an end to the violence - EVERYWHERE.

13. Ahmadinejad is a pipsqueak, politically
He's the mouthpiece for a certain subgroup of radical mullahs who are VERY unpopular in Iran. Think of him as the Newt Gingrich of Iran.

Practically, he can't take a shit without approval from the Guardian Council http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guardian_Council

And with the government on VERY shaky terms, I wouldn't worry too much about HIS opinions.

14. Your theory is interesting......
I am not an advocate of Ahmadinejad....but he does understand the loneliness of his people. He knows that many only pay attention to Iran because of its oil. He wants a greater attention. The desert can be hot and he envies the American politician who can sit in an air conditioned room and appear so very much in control. No sweat on the brow. No stained collar....no lust for food when food is not there. He is not a mouthpiece. He is the real McCoy. And he is not going away any time soon.

essentially, if you want the Iranian people to turn super-nationalistic and rally around the present leadership? Then go right ahead and BOMB IRAN.

Not unlike us Americans who all rallied around George W. Bush and his Administration after 9-11, as soon as we rain hell-fire down on Iran, THE PEOPLE will immediately fall in line.

But hell, what do I know, I'm only a former US Army Intelligence Officer.

You go cheer-lead for WWIII. I choose to do everything legal that I can to prevent this war. I signed letters with other veterans urging the Bush Administration not to invade Iraq. Sadly, they would not attend to our concerns.

I hope they're listening now?

22. Please. I hold no delusions. I know they're a strict right-wing theocracy.
But let's not bring in a demented aura of "The Arabian Nights" into this discussion. The leaders of Iran LOVE their children just as much as you or I.

They are NOT freaks of nature, but people of a foreign culture.

Please stop attempting to turn them into boogie men with three eyes and super-human powers. :(

However, don't be surprised when you get challenged each time you claim to be able to "get inside of the minds" of their leaders.

None of us can accomplish that feat, even through supposition.

However, I do know that it's not "by chance" that the Supreme Leader is where he's at. Logic would dictate that he would not wish for his country to be bombed either.

Further, everyone privy to the structure of the Iranian leadership knows that Al Dinner-jacket is a mouth piece. From the start, your claim that his personal "pipe-dream" will come true has zero chance of coming to fruition in the real world.

A former lieutenant of the US Army Intelligence Corps. I was not in operations. I was in Signals Intelligence. Therefore, I'm not breeching any laws. ;)

My point in even mentioning the above is to impress upon you the fact that I have been a student of military science as well as a person who has more than a passing interest in the country of Iran due to the fluke of my birth while my dad was on a diplomatic mission.

I would hope that you can respect my personal desire that the place of my birth not be blown to kibbles and bits? Further, since I had an Iranian caretaker while my mother went to work at the Embassy, I have a warm spot in my heart for the Iranian people.

To me, Iran is NOT an abstract entity but a REAL NATION filled with many beautiful people. The People don't deserve to suffer because their leaders are right-wing. There has to be a better way than violence to reach a compromise?
