Republican vs Democratic contributions over the past 100 years

Test run of a thought I had, what would be the contributions, by party, to the United States over the past 100 years.

I have a list in my head of Democratic contributions, put on your bipartisan hat and come up with Republican contributions.

5. Actually, no.

NASA was established by the National Aeronautics and Space Act on July 29, 1958, replacing its predecessor, the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA). The agency became operational on October 1, 1958.

He added the Department of Energy, as well as Education.

As for Republican accomplishments, I'd add first woman appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court (Reagan) and the Americans With Disabilities Act and Clean Air Act (liberal but signed by Bush Sr.). Another Democratic one would be the Camp David Accords (Carter).

Following Nixon's Detente with the Soviets and two US presidential terms embracing it afterwards, Reagan did everything in his power to restore the Iron Curtain. But he failed miserably. Poland was already in virtual revolt before he was sworn into office. Western businesses were flocking into the old Warsaw Pact region with American businesses clamoring to join them.

Ultimately, it came down to a fight between PepsiCo and Reagan. The former were given permission by the Soviets to introduce market-based business into the Soviet Union, while Reagan blocked their move in the US and international courts for several years. Ultimately, the Reagan administration lost, PepsiCo opened up the famous Pizza Hut on Red Square, and communism collapsed while the Republicans looked on in frustration.

Had Reagan gotten the Western world to follow his lead, then the Cold War would still be going strong. Reagan not only had NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with ending the Cold War, he actually prolonged it.

(Yes, I know this a little intellectually dishonest as the Republicans were on the right side of history with the Civil War, but the second part of the statement is very accurate)

neglected the destruction in the gulf after hurricaine Katrina, cut government inspection and regulation of the meatpacking/processing industry, cut regulation of the financial and banking sectors, and more recently opposed extension of unemployment benefits to those out of work due to the financial collapse the GOP caused.
